3.0 out of 5 stars little truth , mostly half truths and blatant lies
Worth a read if your from the Newcastle area for a good giggle.Like the other review says all one sided and deluded .And there some facts in the booked and just not true, lost respect for the author for either knowinly writing blantant lies or not doing simple home work to check out the facts . either way makes me question the contents of his other books .

1.0 out of 5 stars Tripe, 19 Aug. 2011
I read this because I'm from Newcastle but all it did was 'big up' those involved in organised crime, say how hard done to they are and criticised the police for trying to put these scumbags in jail where they belong. People from the West End don't accept thieving as a part of life nor do they look at these people as 'heroes'. They are scum who've never done a days work in their sad lives. Poorly written and inaccurate

2.0 out of 5 stars Paddy Conroy appreciation society, 10 Jun. 2012
This review is from: Fog on the Tyne: The Story of Britain's Bloodiest Gang War (Kindle Edition)
This book is all about Paddy Conroy and it is totally blinkered if you excuse the pun In Conroy's favour. It just slags Sayers off at every opportunity so I don't think it is a true reflection

got this after watching paddy conroy on macintyre, paddys a interesting character and if he wrote a book of his own it would be worth a read. this though is absolute crap, a real waste of money. the guy bernard who wrote it, hero worships these villians to the point where it becomes embarrassing. keep your money for something decent.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing, 8 Aug. 2011
Living in the area and boxing in the East End of Newcastle around the time this was set, I am aware of most of the characters in this book. The book appears to be a mouthpiece for Paddy Conroy who obviously found a very gullible author. A lot of what is portrayed as fact is complete rubbish and the authors lack of respect, particularly for law and order, is obvious. His portrayal of Viv Graham is also way off the mark. One of the nicest blokes you would wish to meet (but not cross).

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit one sided, 16 Jun. 2011
The book is ok as far as these kind of books go with the history to events and times of which they happend but it is mostly told through the conroys so its mostly one sided about what has happend the title should have been the conroys the way we see it.
