TOP 500 REVIEWERon 26 May 2012
Two superb albums amalgamated on to one disc, featuring jumping boogie -blues and jazz from the little big man and a cast of all -stars such as Walter Page, Freddie Green and Buddy Tate in support. For those who don't know, Jimmy Rushing was a featured soloist with the Count Basie Big Band for over twenty years until leaving to go solo, releasing records and performing up until his death in 1972.He is /was rated as one of the greatest singers in his field, with a voice that was at once powerful enough to tackle up- tempo belters such as the great 'Boogie Woogie (I May Be Wrong')or sufficiently soulful to handle with conviction more sedate, plaintive material like 'I Want A Little Girl'.Just about any album with his name on will be worth investigating.

Top tracks? in my opinion?: tremendous versions of 'See See Rider' with a brilliant piano intro from Pete Johnson and 'Good Morning Blues' are simply two examples of the great music on this disc.Sound quality is pretty good without being absolutely top notch.Recommended.
