Fantastic! Really impressed
on 9 September 2012
Some clever thinking and plenty of humour has gone into this software. Firstly there is an amazingly good race game on it - the whole family have had a huge amount of fun with that (and that's coming from a technophobe, anti-game couple). Secondly, there is an amazingly good ebook story which has some brilliant touches - including Finn McMissile's voice - an English accent that sounds just like Michael Caine, which I am sure is deliberate.
It has a sophistication and intelligence behind the whole package and excellent graphics, particularly on the ebook story, which is very interactive (hilarious!)
It is for age 5 to 7. Our little one is 4 and a half, but it is six months since he had his Innotab for his birthday and he needed a change from Toy Story (incidentally Toy Story is the only boys' cartridge for the 4 to 6 age group - there are three cartridges for girls in that age group! Ok so it's the modern world, but not many boys want Disney Princess and Dora the Explorer). He loves the film Cars 2, so even though it is aged 5 to 7 we got it. It's absolutely fine - stretches him a bit too, which is good. However, the maths is hard, and definitely over the level of a four and a half year-old. To be able to achieve a decent score in the race game, he has to be able to do the maths quickly - so we have to help him with that - but he's learning and picking up a lot, so this gives motivation to learn his sums - so he can win the race! The maths is only part of the winning formula - there are many other challenges too (all of which he is an expert at already).
Highly recommended - we managed to get it at £7 off the full price - which helps - these cartridges are expensive!
