I'd watched the first episode on TV and thought it was pretty good. However, my wife and I started watching the boxset straight after watching season 4 of Breaking Bad. It was like having a jam sandwich after eating steak and chips. Don't get me wrong; it IS watchable, its just that the acting is unconvincing (probably due to the weak script) and the shoot-outs...well, just so unrealistic they're comical. I understand its meant to be a sort of 'Soprano's on wheels' but it lacks the wit and the graphic violence that might have given it more edge. One of the main characters, Jacks, has a 'gangster limp' which wears a bit thin after a while and one of the other recurring characters says how he likes to have sex with dead bodies and in another episode remarks 'now that's why I beat hookers'. We're meant to identify with this guy.
If you really want to watch quality, cutting-edge TV then buy 1 - 4 of Breaking Bad (or The Wire, or The Sopranos, or Mad Men, or Six Feet Under). If you fancy watching some old cliches that might just hold your interest when there's nothing else on, but this.
