4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for girls just going into secondary school, 23 Jan. 2004
This book is all about 4 best mates Polly, Kerry, Frizz and Lily who have been best mates for years, and they all hate a girl called Jessamy James who's the school show-off, (who's jealous of Lily's talent to dance)who wears pink knickers who they don't want to go to secondary school with.
They all make a spit promise to stick together no matter what and go to Heathfield secondary school. But when Lily is offered a place at a top dance school and Polly trys to take fail her entrance exam to a posh school thats where the problems begin.....
I thought this was a good book, funny in places, and if you liked this one there's another 3 in the series to see what happens to Polly, Kerry, Frizz and Lily. Perfect example of how friends stick together no matter what.

I loved this book so m much it is: FABULOUS AMAZING BRILLIANT and completely WONDERFUL. It is about girls who vow to stay together together forever until Polly gets a scholarship and Lily is offered a place at a top dance school.
This book is one of my absolute favourites ever.
I would recommend it to ages 8-11. It is probably more suitable for older girl readers. It may look good but beware it is quite short and can be read in under a night for capable readers.
Overall it was brilliant. A must buy

This is a heart-warming story about a gang of best friends at the important stage of life where one has to choose one's secondary school.
It starts with the girls making an oath that they will all go to the same school and stay together - but one by one they start to find other schools...
A great book worth reading appropriate for all ages - especially girls who are going to or just have decided their secondary school.

It could be better but I still like it because I agree that pink knickers aren't cool. If one thing could be changed I would change Polly to not get the scholarship'm
