I thoroughly enjoy Prof Ward's style of writing, extremely reader friendly, pragmatic and reasonable. Unlike some atheist and religious apologists he is clearly not looking to 'score points' against people with opposing views. I would especially recommend this book to atheists and agnostics who are open to the idea of God and religion but find their intellect or current social paradigms getting in the way.
Prof Ward criticizes the philosophy of materialism and points out that very few philosophers, classical and modern have been materialists; according to Ward, God is not just an extra add on to a material universe which will gradually disappear as science progresses. There are also some strong responses to problems such as evil and whether religion is harmful
After reading this book I certainly wont go back to reading the sort of trash peddled by Dawkins and Harris et al.
