What happens when you enter witness protection?
on 22 November 2014
I was such a fan of Lois Duncan back in the late eighties, but this was one I'd missed. I was disappointed. I think life has moved on and good or bad, teenage novels and the teenagers in them, have become more sophisticated. Whilst I don't doubt that a teenageer would not be happy to discover they have to enter witness protection because their father has given evidence in a high profile trial, I also don't think they would be so naive to do some of the things that she then does. The ending is weak and fizzles out. There's not enough tension in the whole book. It's also been revised since it's original publication and I wonder why (It can't be just to add a reference to Pirates of the Caribbean!!) If you want a good Duncan read try "Stranger with my face".
