As with the other reviewer I ordered this because it was considerably cheaper than other cat activity trees. Like about half the price including postage. I was originally told that it would take up to 5 weeks to be delivered, but then got an email saying it was being dispatched after only two weeks. It is sent from Germany. They used DPD for delivery who gave me an hour slot and delivered it exactly on time. The assembly instructions are a little odd, specifically the order in which you're told to assemble it. In the end, after checking all the pieces and using the photo on Amazon as a guide, I simply assembled it from the bottom up. It's quite easy and took about 30 minutes from start to finish. The tree is quite sturdy and well-made. Although it looks cute to humans, I found that the ladder bit actually hinders my cats' ability to use the tree as there isn't actually space for them to get onto the top of the covered bit with it there, so I removed it. The ladder isn't structural as it's not fixed at the bottom. My cats are also too big to go into the covered bit as there are two supporting columns inside (not visible in the photo) so I may remove the covering and just have two platforms.
Once assembled I put cat treats on it and lifted the cats up! One cat simply snarfed the treats and then retreated to his favourite chair, but this wasn't entirely unexpected as he's not the most playful of cats. I have seen him occasionally use it as a scratching post but mostly he still uses my chairs. Sigh. The other cat adores it. He likes to doze in the basket in the evening whilst we're watching the TV or sits on the very top playing with the mouse and keeping an eye on the world. As he kneads the basket with his claws before settling down I'm not sure how long the fabric will last, but I don't think it will be too arduous to replace the fabric with something else when it goes. He is 4.5Kg and although the tree wobbles when he jumps up and down it seems quite stable and I'm not worried about it toppling over.
All in all, for the money I this has proved to be an excellent toy for my more active cat and it's not too obtrusive in the living room (I chose the beige colour as I have a natural, beige carpet). I had hoped that they might use it as a scratching post, but that hasn't really happened.
