"Lonely Planet Encounter" books have been companions for many years and this is typical; updated regularly for reprints, although one may be unlucky to find outdated information as one reviewer stated, they are generally comprehensive and very helpful. They are also sensible sizes for carrying around and prices to help the pocket.
At 300 pages with the usual map tucked in the back, this is packed with details, colour-coded, lots of maps and pictures.
Take it with you!

Like all Lonely Planet Encounter books this is terrific - outstanding value, incredibly informative, pocket size and includes a pull out city and Subway map. This is perfect for a short to medium length trip. It's full of suggestions and info on obvious and not so obvious things to see and do. We found no problems with information accuracy although it is obviously impossible to keep every single detail of a city like New York constantly up to date!! Highly recommended.
