4.0 out of 5 stars Better than you might expect
When I first started to play with this I was going to rush off and give it 5 stars. After now having played with it for a week I can't quite give it 5 but it is still much better than you might expect.
I've played with the iPad and the Galaxy and the Xoom, and I have an Android smartphone (HTC). I wasn't expecting the same performance and you don't get it but...

1.0 out of 5 stars Sadly not worth it
My son got one of these for Christmas. It was fun for a while, but we've had several serious problems and are now seeking a refund.
First, the screen was very easily scratched - if you do get one, get a screen protector on there straight away. And it's not that easy to use. It's resistive, not capactive, i.e. you have to press much harder than, say, an ipod /...

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than you might expect,
This review is from: 7" NEW Dual Core M009S 4GB Epad Apad Android 4.2 Tablet PC - WiFi - Dual Camera - HDMIWhen I first started to play with this I was going to rush off and give it 5 stars. After now having played with it for a week I can't quite give it 5 but it is still much better than you might expect.
I've played with the iPad and the Galaxy and the Xoom, and I have an Android smartphone (HTC). I wasn't expecting the same performance and you don't get it but it's not bad at all.
The tablet runs a version of the Eken software modified by a guy on the Slatedroid site. This android build is Vestinious 1.3
Out of the box you have book reader (kindle), web, email and games. Angry Birds runs better on this than on my smartphone!
If you want a tablet to basically surf the web, read a book, send the odd message and play the odd game then it does the job. It is good value.
If you can't see various APPS in the marketplace make sure you clear the markey cache. The android forums are useful for this. The only thing I couldn't get to work was iplayer which says the tablet is not compatible.
If I was being critical then there are a handful of things - the screen is not very sharp, probably due to the resistive overlay. The resistive touch screen is OK and scrolls nicely etc although does sometimes misinterpret what you want to do. The screen feels vague and plasticky, almost soft under touch.
The worst thing is probably battery life. Less than 2hours of use (web/games etc) will flatten the battery.
New software builds will help and there are APPS to turn off WiFi when not in use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun and well worth the money,
This review is from: 7" NEW Dual Core M009S 4GB Epad Apad Android 4.2 Tablet PC - WiFi - Dual Camera - HDMIHaving owned Android phones since they first came out in the UK, I've always been a big fan of Android and it's approach to open source software development.
I'd never really been too fussed about buying a tablet - already owning a smart phone, laptop and desktop computer, I never really felt I'd need one. I've been using iPads at work for a while and a high end Android table - the Asus Eee Pad - they're great fun and work beautifully but are still not something I feel I need.
Despite this I stumbled across this tablet on Amazon - the reviews were generally so good and the price so low that I thought I'd go for it and get one, even just to see how it compares to its expensive rivals and to generally have a play around with it, installing different firmwares. I must say I'm really pleased with it, despite the obvious flaws:
Bad points (let's get these out of the way):
- screen not amazingly responsive
- to initially connect to wifi I have to be quite close to my router (BT Home Hub 2)
- as a result of the screen using the onscreen keyboard is a little long winded
- some apps / games will be too much for the processor to cope with
- battery life not amazing
- I'd only recommend children that are able to play with things carefully are allowed to use it!
- massive range of apps and games
- expandable storage
- compatible with the Amazon Kindle app (why buy a Kindle when this does the same pretty damn well for less money, AND you can do other stuff with it besides using it as a Kindle)
- whilst not available on the Android Market, Spotify Premium works beautifully on this device - I had to extract the Spotify installer (apk) from my phone and transfer it to the Tabtech - it works brilliantly, sound quality is superb
- good sound quality when plugged into speakers / hifi system
- perfect as a portable video player (runs AVI files with no problem) - great for taking on on holiday etc
- when used in conjunction with the keyboard case (available on Amazon) and a mouse, it's practically a netbook and far far cheaper
I have to say if you are considering one, you really should buy one of the keyboard cases - I wouldn't use mine without it. Mine is now permanently set up with the keyboard case, plugged into the mains with an audio jack going to my AV receiver - I basically use this as my Spotify player for which it shines. It's about 5 metres away from my router now and is permanently connected, syncing my emails in the background.
Finally I'll say, don't expect an iPad, don't expect a fully fledged web experience and don't expect it to replace your home computer. At less than a fifth of the price of an iPad this thing punches well above its weight - just be patient as for that price it's not going to do EVERYTHING perfectly, but what it does do it does with ease.
(By the way, I'm running the Singularity ROM V4 which works perfectly)

5.0 out of 5 stars Tabtech M009S 2GB Android tablet.,
This review is from: 7" NEW Dual Core M009S 4GB Epad Apad Android 4.2 Tablet PC - WiFi - Dual Camera - HDMIMy 11 year old son wanted a tablet but there are so many to choose from that it is quite difficult to know what to do! We looked around on the internet and read lots of reveiws. He was limited to the cheaper end of the market. His older brothers have android phones and he was hoping to get some games like theirs. Also he wanted an e-reader and something to play music on.
I chose to buy this tablet because of the good reveiws. Thank goodness I did!
It is a brilliant tablet and well worth the money.
So far we have tried out these applications;
Internet. Works well, wifi connects all round the house. Got opera mini app because this makes the page fit the tablet.
Youtube. Plays well. No problems.
Kindle. Sorted this out after realising that it is easier to make an account on you pc and then transfer the books to the kindle on the tablet. You get three books already on there.
Android app store. This was limited, but after getting an update from Wendy (seller) it now has the full store and I have a very pleased son. Loads of free apps and games.
Email. Not tried yet.
Camera. Basic, but works well, fun. Can't expect more for the price.
Music player. Just drag and drop. No horrible itunes to contend with!
Screen. Not like the ipod touch etc, but very responsive and you soon get used to it. You get a stylus with it, but I find it fine without.
I agree with the other reveiwers, get a micro Sd card.
Battery doesn't last that long but fine for what we want.
All in all, a great piece of kit. If you are wondering whether to get one....ORDER IT TODAY!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great value,
WiFi access is fast and reliable and the browser is great. The on screen keyboard, which appears when you highlight a text box is easy to use.
Have tried the video and music player and the picture quality is good, sound is fine through earphones. UTube works fine and having flash player is a bonus.
All in all a very good tablet at this price.
Have just spent five weeks abroad and found the tablet very useful. Able to access internet and e-mail with wi fi connection.
Did start to find some issues :
1. Screen was oversensitive at times and led to wrong selection from screen.
2. Had problems with both My Music and My Video in that SD card was not read correctly and got message SD is updating.
3. Unable to access Google Appmarket.
Another reviewer mentioned Slatedroid and an update called Singularity. I contacted Wendy and she Okayed this update. Details below. Carried out this update today and all problems above resolved.
[...] - if you get a problem with a certain
version, just download another and try that. (Beta V2 is the best at the
Unzip it to a computer and then transfer the "FirmwareInstall" folder and
the "wmt_scriptcmd" file (and these two ONLY) on to a blank, formatted
(FAT32) memory card.
Insert the card and turn the tablet on - it should automatically update and
you will be asked to remove the card when it is finished.
Once that is completed, you may need to follow these instructions also -
So now really pleased with the tablet and think it is great value

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good,
charger lead far too short.
battery life 1-11/2 depending on what your doing.
charger hole input needs wiggling.
cant get all apps for this tablet inc googleearth and google maps
wireless connection not always able to find accesss point
not all sites work, eg google map web page man cant be moved about
why did no one build in a place to hold the stylus ( but you will probably use your fingers anyway )
very acceptable speed wise for wizzing round the web
some very useful apps can be installed, 3d weather, alarm clock, torch
youtube app runs fine over wireless
decent o/s speed
great little plugin ethernet and usb adaptor
very stable little tablet
easy to use keyboard on screen
decent size screen
Delivery was quick and easy.
Would I buy this again? It is not a replacement for PC, but could probably give an ipad a run for its money. Yep I would buy another and I am recommending them to 2 other people already.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a bargain! The cult tablet for those in the know.,
I originally bought an M009s which lasted for two, pleasurable hours, before it died. I asked Wendy Lou to send a M010s as the replacement, but that did not arrive. Nevertheless Wendy Lou were very good on the service and support side, and refunded me really quickly. Would buy from them again because of that. Because they were out of stock I had to buy elsewhere and bought a M010s (White version of M009s).
I own an Advent Vega 10.2inch and owned an 8" Scroll tab for nearly a month. For portability both of those could not compete with the 7" M010s. This pad can fit in a wide pocket, is light, and can be held in the width of the palm. It uses a modified software ROM called 'singularity' and has both flash 10.1 and the full Android Market. This device has a bright resistive type screen. Usually capacitive screens are accepted to be better. The problem with capacitive screens, as many know, is over sensitivity, and the problem of entering non intended input. This resistive screen, though, is the best I have used. It seems to be calibrated very well. It is sensitive to the finger for just the right amount of resistance, so for me, no stylus is needed. With my Virgin Media Broadband, the Wifi connects very well in all rooms of my house.
Really importantly (Virgin have unlimited downloads) I can watch BBC iplayer and BBC news. Beat that Ipad!!! Angry birds plays smoothly. Screen image quality is quite good and with so many free online HD wallpapers avilable the screen always looks interesting. As an e-reader this pad is great. Because of it's light weight it can be comfortably held up. The Guardian Anywhere App, which fetches very slowly on some tabs, downloads relatively quickly, so you can read the morning paper in bed. The "Sky and BBC Sports News" App can keep you up to date with all the sports news. If you download "Tune in Radio" (won't show on the Market...load it using online search) you can have both local and worldwide radio stations as clear as a bell. Both the Ipad and Vega are quite heavy and tiring to hold as e-readers or game players so this M009S/M010S makes a big difference with its size and lightness.
You can change the size of text by using +/- button which shows on relevent pages and Apps. "Documents to Go" is pre loaded so you can read and edit word and excel. That is a real goody. Youtube is excellent and plays in HQ. Pinball delux from Android Market, which as the name suggests is a virtual pinball machine, plays smoothly. Great fun. The G-sensor which determines orientation works quickly. Which ever way round you hold the tablet the screen adjusts to. Using headphones the sound was reasonable, but through a XMI XII Mini speaker the sound was very good. The inbuilt memory is 2Ghz. I put a larger 8Ghz card in and using the application App 2 SD, you can move many Apps to the card, keeping the memory organised. Remember there are THOUSANDS of Apps on Googles Android Market...you must set up an account though. Skype for Android does not, as far as I can tell, support free computer to computer calls. It seems you can buy credit and use the tablet as a phone. (I may be wrong about this). There is an adapter with the unit that uses the same connector as the Ipod. With a USB to Ipod lead you can connect directly to your computer to transfer videos and MP3s.
On the negative side this tablet is very plasticky. Battery lasts for two hours, if you are lucky, while wifi is on. Switch off wifi if you are not using it. Sound through the inbuilt speakers is too quiet but reasonable quality. The Camera is useless...it faces you. You will have to like your own face a lot to use it. Quality control may not be top notch. Some go wrong as the reviews show. The hard reset button is, an almost unnoticeable pin hole, on the side of the device.
All in all I use this as much as my Vega. It really DOES compete with the IPAD. Not in quality...but in function and it costs a fifth of the price. With an aluminium shell they could charge another tenner and this little device would shake the tablet market up. If you get one that is working to it's peak this is a really good tablet and I recommend it heartily. Five stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good stuff for the price!,
on the flipside kids managed to scratch the screen in first two hours after unpacking also the earphones socket is lousy, camera is next to useless, but who cares about such camera anyway
To be honest I am starting to regret not buying something around 150-200 but at least kids wont take my phone to play games anymore. A really good starter tablet, well deserved 4 stars!
