karl jenkins's music is so powerful and has the ability to transport you to a different emotional space. he truly is a modern master and i love the drama his music incites. there are also very tender moments in this album. i'm no classical aficionado, i just appreciate beautiful music - this album would prove a great introduction to anyone discovering more about classical music. a great collection of his finest work.

This was purchased as a present for my husband but we have both enjoyed listening to the brilliant Karl Jenkins. A great selection of his music.

The compilation comprise two discs each of roughly 80 minutes duration. The first disc includes 16 while the second 17 tracks.

For the purpose of the review I wish to identify two unities:the first unity comprise all sixteen tracks of the first disc and tracks 11 through 17 of the second disc which share the characteristics of sublime (predominantly)choral music to sooth the heart and uplift the spirit;all of them had on me a strong emotional impact. Included in this unity are three movements from the 'Armed Man:A Mass For Peace' which I consider the masterpiece of this master composer. I am certainly not alone given that this work was the most performed by a living composer with nearly 1,000 performances since its millenium premiere. This unity includes a new recording which sees the composer performing a piano duet with himself in a new arrangement of 'Benedictus' from 'The Armed Man'. All preceding work was composed after the turn of the millenium and in my judgement represents the most mature, accomplished and powerful work of the composer.

The second unity comprise tracks 1 through 10 of disc two from the 'Adiemus Collection' which includes music and songs which are beautiful, elegant, vivid and original but are not as powerful or accomplished compared to those of the first unity. The music of the second unity was composed in the years 1995-1999.

Only a small selection of what has been a magnum opuses of a lifetimes work. It is a taster of his wider works all of which stand alone in their own right. No one will be disappointed in delving into his wider works.

Lovely music from a brilliant man. Was bought as a present but it also allowed me to rip it as well in the cost. The tracks are pieces from his large works and is carefully prepared so the listner does not have to change tracks all the time. One or two of the tracks is very quiet but the rest are good volume for the type of music being played.
Another classic >>sorry about the pun<<

Heard some of the tracks on Classic FM which I enjoyed, 95% of the tracks on the CD are very good, just a couple that are not brilliant.

I am fairly new to Karl Jenkins' music so was not sure what to expect from this album. Some tracks really resonate but others seem a little weak. I keep it in the car and it makes for relaxed driving on the daily commute!

Karl Jenkins has to be the top modern Classical Music composer - I already had some of the tracks featured on this album - but to own them all was a bonus. Utterly superb! [ASIN:B004MSRD38 Very Best of Karl Jenkins]
