Many people and their partners faced with a diagnoses of Parkinson's disease shy away from reading any books on the subject because they fear they will be full of doom and gloom: many are.In this book you not only have up to date information(March 07) but very up beat, positive, but realistic advice both to the P.W.P and their partner.Highly recommended

'Parkinson's Disease for Dummies' is absolutley crammed with useful information: some of it encouraging, all of it realistic. I found Chapter 3 most helpful, the authors therein explain the 3 stages through which the disease progresses, clarifying symptoms that can otherwise to be skirted around.
One criticism is that the guide is somewhat lacking in information about Early Stage PD, especially considering that this book is likely aimed at recently-diagnosed people with Parkinson's. I ended up learning about more serious syptoms than are currently present, which both 'scared and prepared' me.
For UK buyers, also be aware that this is an American book, with American advice on healthcare, American support groups, and American medication. This is the best you will find of this kind though, so you'll just have have to buy more books for those answers; afterall having a collection of books on this subject can only be a good thing.

I found reading this very informative and comprehensive. I haven't felt like I've needed to skip through nonsensical areas to get to something of interest.

This Book is of great help in allaying the fears of everyone, especially when first diagnosed with Parkinsons and the fears and terrors that it brings with it.
It has helped everyone, the patient, Relatives and friends of the sufferer included. there is a great deal of help to understand what the future might have in store and details of the help that is available and where and how to get it.

I suppose like all 'for dummies' books it is US printed and edited. But a UK edition could have been more useful. Nevertheless some of the facts and the exercises which can be practised are useful.

Well laid out and answers many of the questions I have about caring for someone with Parkinson's.
Also gives very good tips to help to make life easier for PWP. A quick & easy reference book to refer to any aspect of caring for PWP.
I would recommend it to other sufferers and their carers.
