A while ago I downloaded Ryans Return, as it was on the top 100 free books, & thoroughly enjoyed it. So, when I saw another Barbara Freethy book on the free list, I didnt hesitate. This book is equally as well written, the characters are well penned, & the story has plenty of suspense & romantic interest to keep you reading. Ive hardly got anything done the last couple of days, as I found it impossible to put the book down.

Looking for a light, easy read? This was easy to get into and easy to read only taking me a couple of hours. The main plot is basic with a few unexpected twists and turns along the way and I did find myself engaging with the characters. I will definitely look out for more by this author.

I was lucky to get this whilst free but was hooked immediately and have no qualms of purchasing other books by this author. Golden Lies was romantic but also packed with a mystery which the author very cleverly dropped an occasional clue which was just enough to keep me hanging on and wanting to read more to find the ending. A good plot with twists and very little predictable except on the romance side. Recommend for a very juicy holiday read.

Paige and Riley meet after a golden Chinese dragon is discovered hidden in an attic. A mystery slowly unravels throughout the pages and develops alongside their romance. There is mystery, betrayal, family feuds and romance weaving their way through San Francisco and Chinatown. I had read Ryan's return and enjoyed it so I searched for other books by this author. So glad I did because I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's not too heavy but the story and characters develop at a pace that keeps your interest piqued throughout.

Didn't expect too much being a free book......I couldn't put it down! The perfect balance of mystery, romance, drama, ect. Three families are tied together by a long ago secret, it is slowly unraveled and the families are pulled together again, the lies are discovered and the truth comes out, bringing with it romance and betrayal. I would definitely recommend this, a great beach book!

Another brilliant book by Barbara Freethy. Its a love story and a mystery, Paige is a Hathaway of Hathaway Stores, and Ryan and his Nan take a priceless Dragon into their store to be valued, Ryan and nan leave the Dragon at Hathaways store to be valued, but where is it??? David, Paiges father decides to take it to China Town, but ends up in hospital fighting for his life, but where is the Dragon and why did he go to China Town?.This is the start of the love story and a mystery, the mystery keeps going to the end of the story. This is a great book that you wont be able to put down, a good bedtime read, but don't expect to go to sleep early.

Likeable characters. An intriguing plot. A good mystery and I enjoyed the romance side of it too. The family dynamics were interesting, Good plot. Generally an easy read overall. This is the first book I have read by this author, and I would happily check out her other novels.

This is my first Barbara Freethy book and it will be my last! It was a free download which promised a family saga full of romance and intrigue. It is a family story, but hardly a saga, and distinctly lacking in intrigue. In fairness, I usually go for high drama and suspense stories but thought this would be a light change. In the past I have enjoyed Barbara Taylor Bradford sagas, but this comes no where near. Most of the story is of the developing romance between two of the characters, which in itself is very genteel and predictable. A splash of mystery to do with the disappearance of a Chinese artefact. It is definitely not a page turner, but if you are a Mills & Boone fan, I guess you might just enjoy it.
