This review is from: Halvorsen: Symphony 3, sorte Svaner (Orchestral Works 3) (Audio CD)
I assumed that volume 3 would have "left-overs", but volumes 1 and 2 were good enough to make me buy volume 3 on the off-chance that there might still be some decent material -- from what seems more and more to be a disgracefully neglected composer.

I am very glad I bought it. Symphony no 3 ain't bad, and Foss(e)grimen is a real treat.

Bring on volumes 4, 5 and as many more as you like! I am at a loss to understand why almost Halvorsen's first effort, the only so-so "Entry March of the Boyars", went straight into the repertory and stayed there, while the rest of his output, most of it much better, rarely gets a hearing.

Neeme Jarvi helps, of course -- he could make a breaker's yard sound musical!

Halvorsen + Jarvi ... Thanks, Chandos, keep it going.
