This book lives up to the reviews (author's included). Reisig doesn't waste time with adjective-filled prose like many authors feel is required for every scene. It's non-stop adventure from the very beginning. And to top it off, there are a couple of the funniest lines in this book that I have ever read.

Reisig's novel kept me in suspense! As an avid reader, I'm used to the typical adventure tale with the same-old predictable outcomes and solutions to the problems facing the heroes.....NOT SO with this book! None of the "standard" literary devices are employed here. Reisig has taken the theme of apocalypse and given it a brand-new twist, keeping his readers surprised at every turn. However, don't be fooled by the premise of the story. The characters are very real...so real, you may think you're reading about your neighbors next door. Reisig forces us to imagine what it would be like to be without the conventions of our every-day lives, and then forced to make monumental decisions. Take a ride with this novel, and you're likely to discover a few things about yourself in the process!

This is a high adventure story that could (and may) happen! A story of a castastrophic occurance that is plausable and even predicted by some scientists due to an alignment of the planets in the near future, this book details with amazing clarity the struggle of survival by a small group of people who banded together to travel to a safe haven where they can start their lives over. The book will hold your interest. In fact, you may find, like me, that you will probably lose some sleep because you just can't put it down! The story had me envisioning every situation as it unfolded and I constantly had to " find out what happened" before I could put it down. This is a "must read" book that screams to be made into a movie...

Loaded with adventure, violence with a purpose, romance and plenty of action, THE NEW MADRID RUN by Michael Reisig kept me reading steadily every night until the pleasantly surprising ending. I found that even my dreams became recharged with inspiration for action and survival, a surprising side-effect of having read this book. The very likable main characters have plenty of antagonists and obstacles to overcome which makes for very enthusiastic reading.

Being a resident of western Arkansas, this was very close to home. You would not believe how realistic this book is for the present and possibly the future. Y-2k is not the problem, the "shift" is what we mountain folk are gearing up for. The book is fantastic and movie-bound! Use its story for reference and perhaps, prepare yourselves!!
