I am almost through the Joe Picket series and it has been a great journey.
Joe is a great human character who has flaws that accompany his skills. His family are his backbone but he has the same issues the rest of us do. Money, daughter's growing up too fast and a wife he loves dearly.
These books are great, although you don't have to I recommend you read them in order. They are individual stories but there is a lot about his family relationships and Nate where the whole background is useful.
Try CJ Box you won't be disappointed

A new author for me, but my husband has read C J Box before. We both enjoyed this book and especially the experience of reading on our new Kindle.

I can't stop reading these stories in which Box has created an intriguing and credible set of characters; characters who have grown through the series; joe is my hero and Nate's presence always lies in the background- very upset for him in this novel- but I just know that justice- as Nate defines it will be done!
The effective descriptions root the stories in a beautiful yet harsh natural environment- already downloaded the next one onto my kindle.
Must visit Wyoming!

Firstly, I'm from the UK and our values about justice and the use of guns are very different to those expressed here. So I dislike the values expressed here. I know the area and that is modestly written but could have been made so alive. His follow on book is, I consider much better. I will not be reading another in the series without a preview. If you like this book's style you will enjoy Linwood Barclay or try Flawed by David Beeson!

Just love the Joe Pickett stories and having driven through Wyoming, these bring back wonderful memories of the state and its truly magnificent country. Would highly recommend the whole series. C J Box is a good storyteller with hateful characters to despise and good guys, with Joe leading the way, to get behind. I am only reviewing this book as I feel the same about them all.

I only recently discovered CJ Box but am now steadily working my way through them. This was as good as the others. The plot draws you through, the characters are really well drawn. You cant help but hate Missy, You can't help but want the best for Joe. This one had a great and satisfying twist - didn't see it coming at all. Off to get another one downloaded.

After not enjoying "Nowhere to Run" as much as I had hoped, I started to worry that CJ Box and Joe Pickett had lost their way ... but am delighted to say that "Cold Wind" puts them firmly back on track! This one is on par with the earlier novels which are fabulous so now I'm looking forward to putting my feet up with number 12 in the series "Force of Nature".

Yet again another great book from C J Box, love all the stories and have now, to my knowledge, read every book he's had published. Can't wait for more to come in the future, I'll be first in line!
Wish the film makers would take a look at the story lines, I'm sure they would make great watching, haven't quite figured out who I'd like to play Joe though!

Although, technically, Joe gets involved in an awful lot of trouble for a back-country game warden, the characters are so well drawn and the plot line so well crafted that it doesn't seem to matter.

Another triumphal edifice in Mr Box's writing career. I am becoming keener and keener to hear more about Nate and his back-story.

Trying to read the books in order but hard to see which ones go where. This was next in the list but ran on 10 yrs ahead. I will have to go backwards now and could be a bit confusing.wish they made it easier by just numbering them. Anyway good book and enjoyable as always. History and information and a well written story all in one.
