The King & I on film plus Broadway bonus...
on 24 July 2009
Pulling together the film soundtrack along with bonus tracks but this time with a difference. Here you get bonus tracks from the original Broadway show featuring Doretta Morrow, Dorothy Sarnoff and Gertrude Lawrence plus the crooners sing "The King & I" in the shape of young man Frank Sinatra and the older Bing Crosby. The combination works and gives both the original concept and the commercial arrangements for Columbia and Decca. The running time of just less than 68 minutes is generous and overall the sound quality is good and clear throughout. Attractively packaged this will stand out in the racks and with the low price tag is sure to do well.
Bonus track credits: Doretta Morrow, 1951 The King and I Broadway production. Doretta created the role of Tuptim and introduced the songs "I Have Dreamed" and "We Kiss in a Shadow" both duets with Larry Douglas
