4.0 out of 5 stars This, with 4 beers and a pizza
Is it as good as the final book? No. So don't set your expectations too high.

That said, it's a blummin good watch. Miles better than part one. At just over two hours it fizzed by and I was thoroughly entertained. Okay there are several dodgy accents and I'm still not certain that Daniel Radcliffe will ever be another Laurence Olivier, but there's something for...

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
After watching DH 2, I feel that in some way or the other I have to get rid of my disappointment with this movie. Having always preferred the books, I nevertheless enjoyed the movies to some extent and I was really looking forward to the last of the series.

The first 90 minutes or so, the movie is okay with a few great moments like Maggie Smith fighting Snape...

3.0 out of 5 stars Harry Potter and The Thank Goodness It's Over, 26 Oct 2011
By
This review is from: Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 - Triple Play (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy) [2011] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)
It's over. Stick a fork in it, it's done. The Harry Potter behemoth has finally come to a halt, with more a sense of stuttering than grace. Splitting the final book into two separate films was always going to be a controversial decision by Warner Brothers (except for their accounts department), but `Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' was a large book and probably could cover 4 hours. However, Part 1 suffered as most of the action is in Part 2, so why is the conclusion to the franchise still not that great?

Not since Alfonso Cuaron's helming of `Prisoner of Azkaban' has a Harry Potter film been paced correctly and the past two films have suffered more than most. Part 2 stops and starts throughout, moments of action are punctuated by bland talking parts where the 100 characters or so we have met over the years are given their final moment in the sun. The story has been stripped down to the core trio of Harry, Hermione and Ron, but the emotional punch they brought to Part 1 is lost in a confused script that flings around concepts only the hardened Potter fan will remember. Some of the worst excesses of the books unfortunately made it onto the screen, including the abysmal final reveal (aghhhhhhhhhhhh!)

However, despite its pacing issues and story flaws, there is no doubt that the Harry Potter series had a sense of magic still exists in Part 2. For fans of the series the last film will be a fitting conclusion with some epic set pieces alongside the character development. With so much time invested in these characters you cannot help being dragged into the drama of the situation. However, as much fun as `Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows Part 2' was, the fact is that the last three films in particular should have been so much better. Instead like Part 2, the entire series will go down as good, but not great.
