My Uniden 3500XLT picks up many more transmissions, and they're higher quality.

The antenna was smaller than I expected, about 35cm tall (although it does say that in the product description). It came with a cable almost 5m in length. The connector is BNC, so I needed the BNC adapter that came with the scanner.

The magnet base is plenty strong (it works as an awkward fridge magnet :-)

The video is a "before and after" recording. Note how many more transmissions
are picked up (there was much more silence in the first bit as well).

I bought this antenna to replace to standard rubber duck which came with my Uniden Bearcat BC92XLT, and the instant improvement was very noticeable. I currently have it mounted in my loft stuck to a fan being stored in there with the magnet (basic I know, but it works!).

With the standard rubber duck I could pick up some aircraft above but not very many (I use it mostly for air band), but since attaching this new antenna, I can pick up all aircraft in the area and even Bristol tower too even though I live around 10 miles away on the complete opposite side of the city, so I was very surprised (and happy too) when I found I could pick up the transmissions coming from the tower and ground traffic. I've only recently started getting into scanning so didn't want to spend too much straight away so this was perfect for me. The value is great for the range it provides. The wire which is attached is very long too so you could mount it on your car roof and have lots of wire to around the car to the place where your scanner would be placed. My wire goes from my loft to my bedroom at the moment so that just shows how long the wire really is!

So in summary, good value, great range and perfect for anyone just starting out (or more frequent users of course). I highly recommend it to anyone.

Arrived two days after dispatch - dispatched very quickly.

I stuck this on my car roof and ran the cable through the boot to the front with no problems. Connected it to the scanner without expecting much at first, but got a few transmissions from control immediately. Went for a drive to higher ground, and was blown away. Heard many transmissions from flying craft and the tower from 25 miles away whilst on a hill about 330ft up. I heard them approaching, holding, then diverting due to deteriorating visibility, all very clear. Quite a few messages from Scottish Control also. In the car it definitely out performs my stock rubber duck and also my Watson 881 super gainer for air band (Although not tested on other bands yet.)

As others have said, this antenna has a very good length of cable, should you wish to route it somewhere more semi-permanent/permanent.

I brought this to increase the signal from my Bearcat, and it works great, I've increased my signal treble than the standard rubber one included witha bearcat scanner. I'm 25 miles from Birmingham Airport (to the north) and 25 miles to Staverton (to the south) and I can hear traffic very clearly using this whilst sat outdoors. Great buy, well worth the money!

Upgraded to this from the basic rubber duck aerial. No more static on near frequencies meaning I can listen to the airbase about 10 miles away clearly. Can also pick up stuff much further out than what I was expecting which is amazing considering the cost of the product. If you're looking for an upgrade from the basic that realistically doubles your experience, this is a safe buy.

Reviews are very subjective but here is mine. I live in Walsall which is on the Birmingham airport loop, I mounted this antenna outside on a TV antenna mount. No increase in reception against telescopic on scanner. Mounted on roof of car same again. Went for a drive same again. Listing says mount on a radiator for better reception, done that! No better reception...do I have pilots with larengitus not over impressed by this antenna...receives radio stations great, but there again so does my mobile. Pay cheap and pay twice. Looks like I am saving for another antenna, maybe a discone.....this is my experience, you might live on a mountain in line of sight to your local airport so it might done as it states. I am 20 miles from bhx and remain unimpressed with all the claims of greatness made by other reviews...mine is a truthful review.

Great aerial . Only small but pulled in a lot of air band signals that I couldn't hear before. Fair price and delivered as stated.

This has improved my uniden ez133xlt reception a lot. I have only tried it plugged in at home in the living room at waist height, just received it today. Lots more clearer air traffic coming through.great little antenna.

I am able to pick up aircraft transmissions now with this antenna that were just noise before - improved both quantity of transmissions received and the quality/ clarity

This antenna certainly does make a difference when it comes to bringing in weak signals over a simple telescopic aerial. I use it for the Marine Band, and can receive ships out to at least 30 miles. (the big ones anyway!) The base is a strong magnet with a rubber covering. It is simple enough to stick it on the car roof when required, and take it in again afterwards. I clearly was not intended to a permanent fixture. When used indoors I've noticed there is a significant increase in clarity when attached to a radiator. The antenna is 14" high, as it says in the description, and of course is the correct size for the frequencies it is designed to operate with. It works well with all VHF and UHF frequencies, but below about 50Mhz a receiver would be better off with a long wire or rod.
