A Liverpool Midwife attends a birth. Mum dies and Dad gives Baby to Midwife to take to a 'home'. She keeps the child and the story revolves around its affect on her life. A good read according to my wife.

I loved this book and was sad to leave the characters behind when it came to an end. We follow the childhood of Patty who was abandoned as a baby and who subsequently spent her young life in an orphanage. You get a good insight into the grim orphanage life in Liverpool in the early 1900s. Patty has a dream of becoming a nurse which she eventually fulfills but her early upbringing and what happens to her close friend shapes her adult life and her attitude to men. This is Katie Flynn at her best and I would highly recommend it.

Read about Patty Peel in the story by Katie Flynn. Looks a little bittersweet story. A big read it will be difficult to put down.

A very nice romantic story, very emotional. Such a sad begging for Pattie and such a shame that she never finds her real mother, but Darkie certainly makes up for it.

As with every Katie Flynn book the story keeps you hooked right from the start to the finish and in a some ways give s an insite into a completely differant life to that which we are used to. The life struggles of hard up families.

I will not give anything away, but if you want to see what real hardship is about just read the Katie Flynn books and the next time you miss a mear or feel hard done by, just think again because although this is fiction there are some stark truths and I ciount myself lucky that I did not live in those days.
