5.0 out of 5 stars Jah Wobble & the Modern Jazz Ensemble Review, 3 Dec 2011
This review is from: 7 (MP3 Download)
The Bass Meister and Dub Warrior Jah Wobble concentrates more on his jazz leanings and comes out on top creating one of his best albums, definately up there with Chinese Dub. It has a modern jazz sound and feel as the title suggest; you can pick out a few subtle influences like shades of Mingus, Miles and Weather Report although the end result is definately a Wobble product; his bass is the dominant instrument brought forward in the mix, the songs verge on "dub" in some if not all passages. After repeated listens this album grows beautifully, one feels that if Wobble stood still long enough to appreciate his own work, he could turn out to be a major player in modern jazz..but thats not going to happen anyday, what makes him so interesting is his virsitility, creativity and the blend of influences and styles he takes with him to every new and varied project he undertakes.

Heres a new style cd from jah wobble, all the recognisible skills and distinctive playing are present, but with a new invigorating tangential take on the jazz genre,a new drummer, some other new players, a welcome and refreshing collection of pieces, very chilled.yet stimulating, fav trak @ the mo = ``no mans land`` CHEK IT.
