With a title like this you're not expecting the sort of movie that Guardianistas discuss over dinner but what you get is a good solid action movie. I have watched all of Tom Berenger's sniper movie and this does nothing to sully the memory. Chad Michael Collins plays Sgt Brandon Beckett the son of Tom Beckett the sniper. As he feels that sniping is a coward's way of warfare he has joined the marines and is stationed in the Congo with the UN. He is sent on a mission with some local troops to extract a Belgian plantation owner who is in danger but when they get there the whole team is taken out by a lone sniper and only he survives, albeit wounded. Escaping back over the border with the help of a local white hunter he is determined to avenge his unit so he sets off on his own to do so. Billy Zane reprises his role from the original franchise as a sniper instructor who flies out to help him.
Filmed on location in Africa this blu ray looks beautiful although the wildlife shots do get a little tedious and some of the shots from the end of the barrel as Beckett engages the enemy are a bit naff. The soundtrack is 'sound' but won't rock your system. Everyone gives a good performance and I can't say I noticed any particularly naff dialogue. There were no extras on my blu ray except some previews.
The only negative thing about this film was that it starts in the future at a court martial where Beckett is giving his account of what happened so you already know that he and one other significant character will survive.

TOP 500 REVIEWERon 16 September 2013
That was the line spoken by Billy Zane prior to blowing off the head of a UN Congo soldier with a 50 caliber (?) bullet. I must say the special effects on the blood and bullets were good. The plot is another story. It made me go to Google. First off there is no United Nations code of Military Justice, nor is there a United Nation Military Code of Criminal Justice. In fact it is just the opposite. There is no military code of conduct in the UN which has caused problems in recent times and the UN is in the early stages of looking into such a code. The movie attempts to make a statement about strong patriotic military men vs. weak politicians who play both sides of the coin.

Chad Michael Collins plays "son of sniper" (I don't recall seeing the other movies) in this weak plot, no character developing saga of UN gone awry in the Congo. Billy Zane had the best lines in the whole movie, unfortunately he wasn't in the movie enough to make it work. One sex scene, no nudity, don't recall any f-bombs. Collins as an actor was about a C- if Zane is an "A". If you have a choice between this and a Steven Seagal or Steve Austin movie, choose this one.

3 stars plus a half star for the guy's head getting blown off.

A worthy addition to the Sniper canon, maybe not with the same edge as the original, but making up in interest what it loses in sharp focus perhaps. I have not seen films 2 & 3, but suspect I did not miss much?
I did miss Tom Berenger, however, an excellent actor even if not all of his films have been too great. Check him out in the amazing 'Gettysburg', 'Platoon' or the 'Hatfields & McCoys' mini-series, that man can spit! and what a character he creates. A little cameo from him would have really given this Sniper film a nice little lift, and added depth.
Sniper Reloaded hits the spots you'd expect, and tickles a few you might not?

A good 'shoot 'em up' with lots of falling bodies and a villain who seems to be more than a match for the good guys. An uncomplicated plot with uncomplicated characters and devoid of foul language and explicit sex. I enjoyed the previous Tom Berenger movies but I'm glad they didn't drag him back to support his son in this one. Sit back and enjoy the action but don't expect too much.

I enjoyed this latest offering in the Sniper franchise. No it's not going to win any oscars but it was a satisfying evenings' viewing.
You have to like the subject matter, so don't go forcing your g/f to watch it if it's not her thing. It's a very blokey film, if i'm allowed to say that !

Disappointing. Positioned as a "Sniper" theme but little sniper content, although maybe should be viewed as part of a series.
