4.0 out of 5 stars it has improved
Well, these pair of headphones arrived earlier than i expected. It is very comfortable but the sound quality was not as good as i thought, i will allow them to burn in for a week maybe, because the bass was really hollow and the mids are just terrible. Hopefully they will improve after a week and the bass will be head shaking. And the stranger thing is, i didn't recieve a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Very well made but sound quality could be a little better.
I received these headphones a few days ago and after nearly a week waiting for them to arrive from Japan i couldn't wait to try them. How disappointed i was when i first heard them,i know you should really let them 'burn' in for 100 hours or whatever, but i could tell instantly that these weren't gonna sound as good as i'd hoped.
I have them directly plugged into my...

I have them directly plugged into my Asus Xonar Essence STX h'phone output and i've tried many genres of music from funk, disco, house and techno to pop and rock but the music sounds quite hollow, and the bass is quite boomy, almost 'slow' and 'muddy',not punchy and lively. Mid is also very hollow sounding and vocals are almost lacking though the highs are quite good and smooth.
On the plus side the bulid quality is very good and these are excellent looking headphones ,really very comfy to wear, the earpads really are massive and feel lovely on your head and i do like the flat cable as well, though and extra meter in length would have been better. The low end bass really is very good and almost shake's your head.
But the bottom line is these really do look a lot better than they sound, perhaps having 70mm drivers was a bad idea.Or perhaps i was expecting too much from these straight out of the box (only time will tell).
Playing these quite loud with house/techno music does give you that 'club' effect where as you would be in the middle of the dancefloor but nowhere near what it should for the money these cost. Im gonna give these another week to burn in properly and if they don't improve then either sell them or i'll update this review with a more positive review. Fingers crossed they will improve because i so much wanted these to sound good..

UPDATE.. I had these for a couple of weeks until i sold them and got myself a pair of Ultrasone Pro900 ,which are better in almost every way. Sound quality is miles ahead..
Pros. Excellent Build Quality
Good Low End Bass
Very Comfortable
Good Islolation
Highs Are Good

Cons. Overall Sound Quality Isnt refined
Bass Isnt Punchy
Mid Isnt Very Clear
Cable Could Be A Little Longer And The Moulded 3.5mm Jack Looks A Bit Cheap

CONCLUSION - Great for electronic music / below average for everything else. just get yourself a pair of Ultrasone pro900.

And the stranger thing is, i didn't recieve a warranty leaflet from the seller which is quite annoying. I will update this review if the sound quality has improved after a week or two.

UPDATE:************************************************************************************************************************
These headphones did improved quite a bit after burn in. The highs were quality were quite boomy(with an amp) but not really headshaking with out a amp. i comes with out a case so you would need to be quite careful with it and i did order a case on ebay. The disappointing thing is that the mids did improved but not much. The highs and bass still overlaps the mids and if you listen to fast and crazy electronic music, you might not hear the mids at all. So overall i would give these headphones 4 out of 5 because of the lack of mids.

PS: These do have quality low bass.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sony xb1000 vs dre beats vs sennheiser hd800, 19 May 2011

This review is from: SONY Stereo Headphones MDR-XB1000 | Extra Bass Over Headband Type (Japan Import) (Electronics)
Very powerful sound from Sony stylish comfortable yes its true deep bass your whole head starts to vibrate no joke does beat the Dr dre beats audio sounding wise they are similar Sony having the deeper bass. The Sonys do need some tweaking can take a lot of input power great if you want to listen to some head shaking music, Sony does it, these headphones ain't built for classical music neither is the dre beats even though the sony has 70mm driver the sennheiser hd800 can't be beaten for sound its totally out of this planet I could go on and on about the hd800s but not everybody would pay that much for some headphones but if you want the best it does cost some and needs top notch source and equipment to . One good thing about Sony headphones the high end treble is not over killing even though it has worlds largest large driver thought there may be issues with high end notes but none, size of driver is not everything and loudness to but majority that's what they want loads of bass and loudness. I'm goin to love using the sony for general listening fun when I'm in the mood to shake the hell out of my head with bass.
