I wonder how many reviews start "I used to have a Dyson..."? Well, I did, and also had a Panasonic, a Hotpoint, another Hoover, and a VAX. And now, well, I have one of these.
My vacuum requirements were for an upright, bagless, with a facility to vacuum stairs. Looking at all the major manufacturers, it seemed that they were pretty much all the same, albeit differing in price , motor power, and colour. So, why go for this model over any other? Well, how about that 5 year guarantee. Having had so many vacuums that failed in the past, a nice long warranty was very tempting.
Does it do the job? Yes, it certainly does. One trip around the house nearly filled up the dust chamber, so it's pretty obvious my previous vacuum wasn't doing much of a job. Oh, and the 'lance' attachment did the stairs just fine, all 13 steps worth, with no apparent strain on the hose, and the machine not tipping over.
So, why only 4 stars? The noise. Oh, it's noisy. Very noisy. If you live in a flat, or semi-detached house, this is not a vacuum to use in the early hours, or late at night. Your neighbours would not be happy. Also, it's not the easiest to guide around, but I was getting used to that by the end of my session.
I had intended writing a long detailed review, but decided that it's just a vacuum cleaner, and all the facts are easily available on any number of websites, so I should just provide an opinion of it in use, and whether it is value for money.
In conclusion, if you don't mind a bit (a lot) of noise, you should buy this vacuum for the price, the fact it 'does the job', and that nice warranty.
