5.0 out of 5 stars debussy without the flimsy, fluffy, floating feel
The performer on this CD has such control over his tone quality, and the interpretations are beautiful. In every piece he knows where he is going and enjoys getting there. What is more, he is one of the few performers who play Debussy with a respect for what the man wrote. There is no over-pedalling, no blurring in an attempt to create an impressionistic feel. 1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed
Ordered this as I needed Clair de Lune for my mums funeral as it was her favourite piece of music. Unbelievably although this is the title of the CD, it's not actually on it. Luckily listened to it in time and had to order another CD. Didn't send it back as I had already opened and played it. Very misleading.

5.0 out of 5 stars debussy without the flimsy, fluffy, floating feel, 22 Sep 2006
This is proper piano music showing just how gifted and in love with the instrument Debussy was. Yet the perofrmer has his own ideas too. He observes very few of the 'piano' markings in Gollywog's Cakewalk for example. Instead it's a raucous, quirky, vibrant performance. Lovely. L'Isle Joyeuse glitters, The Little Shepherd is a masterpiece of understatement. I'm well and truly converted to this style of Debussy playing, and respect the man so much more because of it. This CD leaves me gasping at his genius, actually.

This review is from: Clair de Lune (Audio CD)
Music to relax with. It's a really good recording and I love it - it took no time at all for it to come too. 10/10 all round
