4.0 out of 5 stars Tim Burton - The Outsider on the Inside, 3 Oct 2001
By A Customer
Just over a year ago, there was only 1 book on Tim Burton, but now Burton's work is now as popular as ever, both academically and commercially. After completing my final year degree dissertation on the films of Tim Burton, I have read most of the existing books on the market (with the Merschmann & Salisbury books the most useful) and this book, unlike the others, is much more academically-based, and explores many of the important and recurrent features of his work - even if it is a little too harsh on the comedic genius of Pee Wee Hermann. Although this is a slim volume (as are all the Pocket Essentials Series), it packs a lot in with small type, and a concise lucidity that will suit academics and casual readers alike.
