4.0 out of 5 stars Great return for the predator.
This film does exactly what you would want from a predator film. It takes a little while to get going but once it does it goes at a very entertaining pace. It's a 15 rating so its not as blood thirsty as the first 2 predator films but there is plenty of action and enough blood to keep everyone happy. Adrien Brody plays the lead very well, the supporting cast is good and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Adding an S doesn't make this 'Aliens'!
It seems a very long time ago when the word `Predator' in the title meant a decent film: a fusion of sci-fi and action with plenty of tension. I gave up on the series after the first (and dreadful) 'A vs P' movie. Despite that I was quite excited when I heard about this Rodriguez re-boot and thought I'd give it a go, especially with that S at the end. One always lives in...

4.0 out of 5 stars A worthy successor,
Today we are all familiar with the Predator, so all the tension and suspense we shared with Arnie about WHAT is out there is gone-we know what is out there. And the shock value of discovering the capabilities of the Predator and finally seeing it, are also all gone, because we know all that stuff now.
As a large part of the original benefitted from all that natural suspense, it is very difficult to make each succeeding Predator movie, because all those elements that were key to the original are now "knowns".So we should not be too harsh on Predators this latest installment. And for those who complain about storyline or the lack thereof-go back to the original and note that the storyline was very sparse indeed. After all, it is all about the Predator. I found Predators was a worthy effort in the series. A bit of originality in having the premise of the film bringing the prey to the Predators-instead of the other way round. Brody was convincing, and far smarter than Arnie. The Yakuza warrior was certainly the bravest in taking on a Predator alone with his samurai sword(that suddenly appeared!),and was a throwback to the original with the Indian warrior waiting on that tree trunk for the Predator.Braga ties this film to the original as she knows the Predator story of the original, having been brought up in Guatemala and having heard the local lore about what had happened there.
There was a lot in the movie that was worthwhile. I suppose my only disappointment was that while the Predators were obviously strong, I found them to be not physically imposing! They looked short i.e. same height as the humans, whereas my recollection of the original was of a majestic, tall creature that was head and shoulders bigger than his adversaries.
Anyway, worth seeing, and roll on another.
4.0 out of 5 stars Much Better Than Expected,
This review is from: Predators [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)Im glad to say this was much better than i expected and reason for that is... well theres two... first off the original sequal Predator 2 was abysmal and secondly after the AVP disasters i lost hope in fox being able to bring us a decent movie with the predator in it ever again. by no means is this a great film but it is a realy good film... almost comparable with the original Predator. what realy worked here was good casting just like in the original film, good director, decent script... as well as taking the iconic mosnters back to a jungle setting where they belong.
The other thing i realy liked about this movie is the planet the hapless characters find themselves on is no predator planet but a game reserve, its a horrific thought and you feel the terror of the characters when they realise they are being hunted for sport... after that the hunt is on and its a battle for survival. for me this is the proper sequal to the orignal Predator, just pretend Predator 2 doesnt exist.
Only problem i had was i seen no reason for the super predators to have different facial features... it seemed a bit drastic. i would have stopped at different armour and weaponry to differentiate between them and the classic predators, i like the idea of different warring preadtor empires in its civilisation but without the major changes to creature designs... just like the xenomorph from the alien movies the predator is a classic and iconic monster design and doesnt need to be changed in my opinion... or to look primitive and vulnerable as it did tied up in one scene.
The soundtrack and sound editing resembling the original Predator here works well and adds continuity.
And finally the movie ends in a way that makes you want to see a sequal, i cant remember predator 2 making me feel like that.
4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, not bad at all,
This review is from: Predators [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)Fairly good action, although parts of the plot were taken from the Alien Vs Predator story and from the original Predator film.
Good fight scenes and interaction between characters.Back to the form of Predator and Predator 2.
4.0 out of 5 stars Silly, absurd, and yet totally action-packed fun,Contest. Recommended for boring or tired evenings.
4.0 out of 5 stars Much more fun than it has a right to be...,
The plot is, of course, total, total bobbins, but then we are watching a Predator film, so that's slightly to be expected. What I didn't quite expect was the fun of mashing up Danny Trejo and Laurence Fishburne being ridiculously over the top, along with a bunch of random 'thug' cliche characters (including the convict who apparently watched a little bit too much Prison Break and wants to be T-Bag), topped off by Brody and Braga trying to carry off terribly terribly serious - and I don't even know what Topher Grace is doing, but it is entertaining. There's big guns, lots of gore and a variety of inventive deaths - I really don't ask for more in a SF action franchise.
3.0 out of 5 stars A decent sequel.,
