4.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, but be aware...
For the price this is a good lens hood - solid and well made. But be aware that if you are fixing it on to the Canon 18-55mm kit lens it will suffer from the same issues as other hoods - namely, revolving when you manually or auto focus. This is a limitation of the lens rather than the hood though...

1.0 out of 5 stars Get a hood matched to your lens instead
As others have noted this petal design is not suitable for the 18-55mm kit lens. Canon's own hood for this lens is round, not petal shaped, as in inherantly required for lens with a rotating front element.

I'm not sure if its suitable for the others the seller lists either. A hood needs to be matched to the focal length (or range of lengths for a zoom), not...

3.0 out of 5 stars vignette issue, 6 May 2012

Cheap for its price, but one flaw on the 18-55mm kit lens - you will get a vignette from the hood when zoomed out fully. how ever, if your not doing landscape shots then this is fine, as by zooming in slightly this disappears.

1.0 out of 5 stars Screw fit and can't invert..., 6 Mar 2012

This review is from: 58mm Flower Petal Camera Lens Hood for Canon EOS EFS 18-55mm EFS 55-250mm EF 70-300mm EF 50mm Lens (Camera)
This hood is well built but poorly designed. It screws into the filter screw meaning you cant invert it for more compact storage in a case. You also can't attach filters while using it. And as other's have noted here - it rotates with the lens which is very annoying. Will be returning as soon as I have time...

Not extremely happy with this lens hood. It fits well my 18 mm - 55 mm lens but when zooming right out for the widest view - there are black edges at the corners where the hood is visible.

4.0 out of 5 stars flower petal lens hood, 14 Nov 2011
This review is from: 58mm Flower Petal Camera Lens Hood for Canon EOS EFS 18-55mm EFS 55-250mm EF 70-300mm EF 50mm Lens (Camera)
Does the job. I found it hard to attach to the lens initially because it was difficult to know whether one was cross threading it - some resistance early on and no thread click with reverse movement to start. Seems secure and fits well. Not keen to take it off however!

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't fault this product, 1 Nov 2011
This review is from: 58mm Flower Petal Camera Lens Hood for Canon EOS EFS 18-55mm EFS 55-250mm EF 70-300mm EF 50mm Lens (Camera)
I really can't fault this product as it does what it suppose to do. However, this took slightly longer for it to be delivered as I ordered this with other camera equipment and it came a week later but overall, I'm happy with this product.

Came on time and in good condition. Have to be careful with the wings of the hood to avoid it appearing in the view finder, but it is practical and effective otherwise.

Ok, this hood does fit the 18-55mm lense...but it also rotates with it when you focus...which is not good...other than that, a fine hood.

4.0 out of 5 stars petal hood for canon 18-55mm lens, 25 Sep 2011
This review is from: 58mm Flower Petal Camera Lens Hood for Canon EOS EFS 18-55mm EFS 55-250mm EF 70-300mm EF 50mm Lens (Camera)
Like every other reviewer on this and other sites, I wanted a lens hood that did not cause vigneting at the corners of the photo when the lens was at 18mm. I have looked at dozens of sites, at dozens of lens hoods of all types, and the various reviewers have all said the same thing, namely that vigneting occurs at the four corners of the photo when the lens is at 18mm because the hood itself rotates with the lens. Surely in this day and age it is not beyond the skill of a manufacturer to produce a lens hood that can be manually rotated to obviate this? There seems to me to be little point in taking a wide angle photo at 18mm, only to have to cut out the four corners thus decreasing the angle to 20mm. Does anyone out there know of an enterprising lens hood manufacturer who would like to solve this problem once and for all which occurs with every hood on an externally focusing/rotating lens?
