Bosch Rotak 34 Li Ergoflex,
This review is from: Bosch Rotak 34 LI Ergoflex Cordless 36 Volt Li-Ion Rotary Lawnmower (34 cm Cutting Width) (DIY & Tools)
As one of the fussiest women in the world I've waited 10 days to review this mower, to give it a few 'testdrives'. It arrived within 24 hrs of ordering! While charging the battery I set about unpacking and putting the mower together. The instructions are minimal - mostly diagrammatic - but that was ok as it was fairly obvious. The most challenging bits were clicking the 2 halves of the grass collection box together, then assembling the bolts to attach the handles - just a bit fiddly. Battery needs 90 mins for a full charge. What surprised me was the ease of movement; it's lightweight and these ergonomic handles do help. The noise is very quiet - just a low hum. Not convinced about these "grass combs" It doesn't get into the edges quite as accurately as my old corded Qualcast or cut quite as low. HOWEVER it has made cutting the lawn almost enjoyable! The most AMAZING thing for me is the drastic reduction in time, energy and effort. As someone with M.E. it became impossible in the last few years and I've paid a small fortune for mowing. Fortunately one of the 'gardeners' broke the lid of my old mower (and left it without telling me). He's actually done me an enormous favour! This new machine is absolutely great and the charging capacity even seems to have increased with a few uses. It has just tackled both rear lawn (approx 20 x 15 ft) and front lawn (approx 12 x 10 ft)on the same charge - with 2 green lights (80%) still left on the battery! This mower made a valiant attempt on my mum's huge meadow-like lawn (approx 60 x 20 ft with 6" long grass). It completed half, needed 90 mins recharge, then the other half. On hers, the grass box needed emptying every few strips and because of the light weight, the mower needed extra pushing over the springy terrain so was quite hard work - but I couldn't otherwise have dreamed of tackling it over the last few years. For my own 'normal' lawns it's a doddle and I'm in love with this mower. NEVER before have I finished mowing then looked at my neighbour's grass and thought "ooh I could just run over his too before putting this away!" Go on treat yourself and set yourself free from cords!

Received my Li34 yesterday. It went together well other than putting the grass box together which was a bit fiddly geting everything in place. To those who haven't used a plastic mower before it appears flimsy but its tougher than you may think. For those who said the battery last a long enough time to cut a full size Tennis court I would disagree! My lawn is a little smaller than a tennis court and I had cut it two days before! It is full of moss and weeds, not like those lawns in the Garden Brochure. I did cover almost all of it and yes it took one hour to charge up. Finish excellent with stripe no less. It made my lawn look better than it really was! Today I cut some really rough grass around the outside of my house, Council work really. It cut really long gbrass down in minutes. Satisfaction excellent! This is the way to go now we have better batteries to do the work. But why are the batteries so dear?????? I could do with a spare!

Fantastic Mower.I am a 80yr.old female who needed a light easy to use mower. This meets everything I needed plus more.I did have trouble building the grass box but got there in the end.The instructions could have been clearer to understand. This mower is expensive but well worth the money for me.

A flexible mower,

I have a large garden with an acre of lawn, so I use a lawn tractor, but there are several areas I can't reach with the tractor. I needed a small, light mower for these. An electric mower semed to be the answer, but not mains powered - too much cable - awkward and potentially dangerous. So battery powered - I needed to know performance details -- How powerful - can it cope with long grass? - How long will it run on one charge? - Will the battery go flat if it is not used for 2 weeks? Didn't find the answers on Amazon website. Checked out lithium ion batteries on Wickipaedia - looked good. I chose the Bosch Rotak 34 LI as the cheapest of an expensive range. It has proved to be what I need - light, powerful enough and the battery lasts long enough for all my neeeds and doesn't go flat when not used. An excellent product.

Nice product - disappointing battery life,
This review is from: Bosch Rotak 34 LI Ergoflex Cordless 36 Volt Li-Ion Rotary Lawnmower (34 cm Cutting Width) (DIY & Tools)
I bought this on the basis that the blurb said that it was good for a 300m lawn on one chargeMy plot is exactly that - 10 x 30 metres so I went ahead with it When the grass is dry and short it almost gets to the end and a 30 minute top-up enables me to finish off - not too bad the problem comes when it rains - as it does sometimes here in Lancashire - and the grass doesn't get cut for a fortnight. In those circumstances and tackling the lawn while it's still slightly damp, it becomes a a 3 stage operation which takes up most of the day. The obvious solution would be a spare battery but they are difficult to find - and unbelievably expensive- £200+ How can that be? I'll persevere with the L34 for now, but unless there's some big improvemnt in the next couple of years, my next mower will be back to thr 4 stroke

Cordless Rotary Lawnmower,
This review is from: Bosch Rotak 34 LI Ergoflex Cordless 36 Volt Li-Ion Rotary Lawnmower (34 cm Cutting Width) (DIY & Tools)
This lawnmower was relatively easy to assemble, although the two halves of the collection box needed some strength to click all the tabs home. The LI battery charged up the first time in well under an hour. Setting the mower height seemed difficult until I found that if you stood over the mower and put all your weight on the lifting handle pressing the mower to the ground, then you could slide the height adjuster to the required position without too much difficulty. In use the mower works extremely well. The switchgear on the ergoflex handles is very convenient to operate and on the lowest setting it cuts the grass very short and is heavy enough to leave decent stripes whilst at the same time it is light enough to manoeuvre easily. I have two lawns which total about 200 square metres and it just completes these on one charge if the grass is kept short. It then takes the best part of an hour to recharge the battery fully. I suspect that if the grass was thick and long it would need a short recharge between the two lawns. An excellent product, I thoroughly recommend it.

Great lawnmower, light and easy to use maybe battery running time could be better but hey still a fantastic product. It cuts the grass with ease and height can be adjusted when grass gets to long (after winter months)It also gets rights to the edge of the lawn so no need to trim around the edges later, its also very quiet for a lawnmower. I purchased this mower as I notice my wife struggling with old petrol mower and being the modern man bought a cordless mower for her. Bosch Rotak 34 LI Cordless Rotary Lawn Mower

Easy to assemble notwithstanding limited instructions - mainly diagrammatic.Agreeably surprised at how well it dealt with my lawn (albeit small)which had remain uncut for several weeks. I did have my doubts as to how well it would cope with the long grass Bosch Rotak 34 LI Ergoflex Cordless Rotary Lawnmowerbut it passed with flying colours. Battery power is surprising and lasts for longer than I had anticipated with a very reasonable recharging time. All in all I am delighted with this mower - it has exceeded my expectations.

I purchased the Bosch Rotak 34Li cordless after having looked at every similar product in the market. I must admit to being a big fan of Bosch products for their reliability and quality. This mower is impressive largely for the quality of the cut and the ease of use. I did have an issue with the poor battery performance and did ask Bosch Uk for some advice, information etc but sadly did not receive a reply nor acknowlegement. But, with repetitive charging the battery has improved and now I can cut a 100 square yard lawn with one charge - still a long way from the '300 sq meteres in perfect grass conditions' promised.Still I like it - I cut the grass in record time now! |
