4.0 out of 5 stars Feelgood stoner rock n roll
This band are destined for great things. Playing their music with a Southern sound of chilled beer and Marlboro Lights, OG's music is uplifting and enjoyable. This fine effort reminds me of Corrosion of Conformity in the Deliverance era. Pretty much every track is memorable. And nice packaging too!

2.0 out of 5 stars disapointed
After reading the other reviews I was expecting big things, unfortunately I cannot hear the heavy riffs or the slow pounding Hawkwind style of music. There is no doubt they are talented musicians but it is what they are playing shows they will nevr be more than wannabes.
If you like Kyuss, QOTSA, or any other of the stoner style music then this is not for you. But if...

Not worth a 5 - that's only worthy of classic albums, and this isn't really a classic - but it is a very good album. Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Coup De Grace Rocks, 17 Jun 2004
This review is from: Coup De Grace (Audio CD)
Well what can I say about this album well to put it quite simply it rocks,
Many die hard Goblin fans disliked Coup De Grace because it's a little different to there normal style, But I loved it. It was produced by Obsessed/Kyuss bassist Scott reede. Although maybe not as heavy in the mix as a Billy Anderson produced effort I felt it was still great to listen to.
Stinkin 'O' Gin and Monkey Panic are the stand out tracks on this album these tracks really show that the Goblins write Great Riffs, Great Lyrics and have the coolest song titles! Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars heavy modern day Budgie for booze addled scraiths, 26 Mar 2002
This review is from: Coup De Grace (Audio CD)
I was damn excited about getting this...saw them live and marvelled at the sheer Hawkwind like volume...genius...My preference has always been for dark grinding riffagge and freak-out wah-wah sonic tomfoolery, but enough about me. If you like 70's flavoured heavily charged metal this is for you. 10/10 for sheer old fashioned metal heavy-osity. Made of rats and stinkin' o grin are classy rock tunes. Hail old metal! Both this and Incarnate by 'The Obsessed' are my albums of the moment. Drink beer, wear beards and scraith out to Orange Goblin, YEAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Goblin Rock, 5 Mar 2004
This review is from: Coup De Grace (Audio CD)
Anyone expecting another "Big Black" style album may be disappointed. The Goblin have gone for a slightly punkier sound here and there are fewer psychedelic trimmings. The production of the album, courtesy of ex-Kyuss ex-Obsessed Scott Reeder, is different too and takes a little getting used to. However, once you've adjusted to the new sound you're in for a treat. "Born with Big Hands" has a riff the size of Jupiter and "Monkey Panic" is just splendid. You also get not one, but two tracks with John "Kyuss" Garcia guesting on vocals. That has to be a good thing. It's a great album and with repeated listens it just gets better and better and better and...

If you like Kyuss, QOTSA, or any other of the stoner style music then this is not for you. But if you like thrashy, trashy, baseless, talentless tripe then look no further.
