Highly recommended!,

`Library of Gold' is a collection of books containing ancient knowledge. One of the volumes appears and is linked to a threat to national security. Eva Blake, a specialist in rare books, and Judd Ryder, a troubled ex-spy, must team up to see that the other volumes are found. One CIA agent has already been killed, and their lives too are at stake. This is an enjoyable and fast paced thriller, which I downloaded onto my Kindle. The characters are likeable, as is the partnership between Blake and Ryder. I would highly recommend!

A diverting enough read,
This review is from: The Library of Gold (Kindle Edition)
This is a pleasant enough airport-thriller. The plot moves along at a good old pace skipping around the globe with some abandon. The body count is high and a willing suspension of disbelief is handy to swallow some of the plot progressions, but I enjoyed it as a diverting thriller

Good but not great,

The main plot is entertaining and well researched and forms the basis of a good thriller. The main characters are well written, if a little cliched at times. As another reviewer noted, the plot diversions do require a certain suspension of disbelief and in my opinion spoil an otherwise good book. A good light read but not a classic.

I really enjoyed this book which I bought on my Kindle. Good mix of characters Good characters quite fast paced, some very bad guys, and quite a lot of death and destruction. Why is it that supposedly intelligent people, can't work out that they can be tracked by their mobile phone!!!! Lots of historical influence and moves through quite a lot of countries,However I would certainly read another one of her books!

I usually buy my books based on user reviews, and took a gamble on this one as there were none.If you are thinking about reading this book, but are unsure I would recommend picking it up and taking a look. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

This was a great book that I enjoyed reading on my Kindle. It is like the Da Vinci Code, as the basis of the story is trying to locate the library of gold, however it was still a good read. A little predictable but still kept me interested as was involved in the story and the characters right till the end. Would definately read another of her books.

No depth,
This review is from: The Library of Gold (Kindle Edition)
Poorly written, no depth to the characters and thin, vague and confusing plot line.I didn't really care what happened to the characters in this book, I had never heard of the "Library of Gold" before reading this and really don't care about it now. Couldn't make out what the fuss was about, an exclusive book club and a book of spies?? Who cares?? And the side plot in Afghanistan? What was that about?? Only got to the end because I'm stubborn.

I live in the UK and downloaded "The Library of Gold" The Library of Gold to my Kindle, as I'd previously been well entertained by Gayle's Robert Ludlum collaborations. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Consequently I looked for further books written by her. None were available (on Amazon.co.uk) for the Kindle at that time, so I ordered the four I found in Amazon as books - one of which was "The Book of Spies" The Book of Spies available in hardback from Canada. I assumed this was a follow up to "The Library of Gold" which had contained many references in the story to a book called "The Book of Spies".Imagine then my annoyance when I began reading The Book of Spies only to realise immediately that it was, in fact, The Library of Gold under a different name - AND a different ISBN number. Amazon itself made no reference to the two books being the same - and neither DID Gayle's own website BUT - absolutely 'fair play' to Gayle - I left a message on her web site regarding the mix up and received, almost by return, a very friendly personal response along with a promise to update her website appropriately. The update was made within days. An excellent author and a VERY nice lady.

Boring and badly written,

This is a very poor thriller, with naive plot, cliched style, wooden prose and boring characters. Big disappointment, even as a holiday read."Dan Brown meets James Patterson meets Bourne"? Definitely not!

a passable thriller,
This review is from: The Library of Gold (Kindle Edition)
This book is ok but by no means brilliant or actually exciting. It's very formulaic and it's incredibly easy to see what is going to happen. The heart of the story, the Library of Gold, is an enticing idea but actually when it comes down to it the book doesn't know itself why this should be important beyond an archeological point. The book is basic and a thriller by numbers with no great character development and a disappointing plot. It's an easy read and can while away commuting time but it's not anything to shout about |
