Nice value outing from Canon
on 16 June 2011
You may be fooled into believing that all laser printers, be at the office or library, are large and cumbersome machines reserved for more professional activities. The Canon i-SENSYS (Its ok, I don't get it either...) aims to wave away such perceptions by providing many of the excellent attributes that laser printers offer, but all at a very fair price.
Sure enough, this is still twice the price of the average 'inkjet' printer that can boast almost as much as being a coffee maker, but the compromises are always their. As many will know from their own experiences, cheap-end inkjet printers have the additional costs of small ink cartridges that barely hold 15ml of liquid (a complete scandal in itself) and poor quality features.
Consider that you only print professional documents, either for a business or for other work related tasks, and you can do no wrong with a product such as this. The final results are beautiful, with crisp, clear text that puts inkjet printers to shame. I shouldn't need to mention the speed this printer operates at, but its worth noting that while pages do print off quicker, these machines do rely on being left in a 'Sleep Mode' so they can resume quicker, and this in turn consumes more electricity than inkjet printers.
The toner (laser-lingo for ink) has an estimated life-span of 5 years, which is surely very appealing to anyone...
No Mac OS software or drivers included on disc, but then the box is so consumed with useless graphics and information (like most computer products) that I can understand people having compatibility issues.
I should also mention, since it is not clearly displayed, that this printer is indeed Black and White only. Its primary purpose is to print textual documents.
