After of couple of months of intensive use (daily/work) it finally broke down. The left button finally got irretrievably stuck after having started to fail slightly after the first month of use and gradually got dangerously worse.
I give it 3 stars instead of 1 because it was so cheap (around 4.60 total) and it worked fine, it was ergonomically comfortable to use and overly precise (there is no cursor flashing/shaking like other mice do so, it's nice for medium/high precision and very fast work) while it lasted - pity. Will be checking other Dell models. I would recommend it as a backup emergency mouse or if you use it every once in a while, then this would be perfect and good value for money.

This is a very lightweight, responsive and comfortable mouse. However it is "designed"(?!) to break down after a couple of months. As another reviewer noted I had one of those and within the aforementioned period the left button started "clicking about" uncontrollably when only clicking once. Thinking I was unlucky I ordered a replacement and - guess what - within less than 2 months of use the same behaviour occurred. So this is no fluke, maybe a particular bunch has this particular problem but all things considered it is a fundamental flaw and therefore unacceptable as the well-respected manufacturer itself gives it a 3-month guarantee! I'm disappointed because I really liked this mouse but now I'll have to settle for a similar product from Logitech or Microsoft which are more awkward to handle and heavier. 4 stars for the design and price, minus 2 stars for the longevity.

As part of a computer upgrade at work last summer, I got a new mouse. Honestly, I would have been fine keeping my old one, or so I thought. Now that I've been using this mouse, there's no way I'd go back.

As far as using it goes, this is your standard two button mouse. It's black in color, so it does seem to hide dirt better than my old white one did. It's slightly indented on the left hand side, which makes it ergonomic. The two buttons work perfectly. They are spaced slightly apart, but I haven't had any problems clicking where I think a button should be only to find it wasn't there. In the middle is the scroll bar, and it works perfectly. The chord is about three feet long, which is more than enough to reach from my computer on the floor up to my mouse pad on my desk.

In every way you would normally use a mouse, it's just like any other mouse, which alone would make it a fine switch. But here's what I love about it. This is an optical mouse, meaning it uses a little light on the bottom of the mouse to read movement instead of the more traditional track ball. Now I don't know about you, but my track ball was always collecting gunk. It might have helped if I used a better mouse pad, but I love my 10 year old Dilbert one. But because it is so old, my mouse would go through cycles where it would work fine then slowly get finicky until I would clean off the rollers. And they'd get pretty dirty, too.

Because this uses the optical light, I haven't had to clean the bottom of my mouse once. The light is located in the direct center of the mouse. The housing for it is located just slightly back from the bottom of the mouse. There are three pads on the bottom of the mouse that further raise the mouse from the mouse pad. All this seems to keep the housing and the light very clean. Even looking at it now, none of the bottom looks the least bit dirty.

Honestly, there was no adjustment time for me. I went from using my old mouse to using this new one with perfect ease. But the fact that it seems to be no maintenance makes it worth the upgrade to me.

No, I wasn't looking for that upgrade when I got it. But I am loving my Dell Optical Mouse now that I have it.

This is the second of these mice I have had. I thought I was just unlucky when the mouse supplied with a Dell PC bought through Amazon failed. I had a bit of a job getting Amazon to replace it - the first person I spoke to wanted me to send the whole system back to Dell!! Anyway I had another one and this has failed too. The left button has started randomly double clicking when you only press it once. They don't last very long at all. Don't buy this mouse.

Traditional full sized USB mouse. I think 1000dpi means it is more accurate - it cetainly seems precise. There's no driver or CD software in the OEM plain card box but for the price I didn't expect any. Or need any, since it works on Win 8, XP and opensuse Linux without problems. I like the way the left and right pushbuttons actually bend the body of the mouse (check the picture to see what I mean). Well, I'm easily amused.

This mouse is very lightweight and feels very cheap, the wheel feels like it is not turning very freely. But it does the job well and costs very little

Typical Amazon bargain. Does what it says on the tin. Very comfortable and smooth tracking. All the usual button facilities.

When this item arrived unboxed in a jiffy envelope, I had my reservations. Its a very basic mouse, it has left and right buttons and a scroll wheel, thats it. However, quite simply if you want a no frills mouse that plugs into a usb port and does the job, then you cant really beat this for the price, especially as its a Dell product. Mine is doing the job perfectly plugged into my Dell Inspiron 15 Notebook, I just cant fault it for the money.

I wanted a modest looking good quality mouse. I didn't fancy a monster 12 button neon boy racer back-flipping gaming mouse so I found this one instead. Definitely what I wanted, feels nice in the hand and is satisfying to click.

I use this every day for work and even though it's a cheap mouse I find it better than a lot of more expensive models cause it's not trying too hard. Recommended for modest people who want a modest mouse.

Absolutely fine - just what you'd expect. I think I'd prefer something a little smaller, but that is my preference.
