Locked Down features Tony Schiena (Leonardo from The Merchant of Venice) as a Danny, a cop who is put behind bars after an undercover investigation goes wrong and he is accused of corruption. Thrown behind bars, he just happens to end up in the same jail as most of the guys he has been putting away all these years, most notably crime boss Anton Vargis (Played by Vinnie Jones X-Men - The Last Stand). Vargis has a nice little underground racket going with the prison staff including the Warden; putting on UFC style cage matches and running an international gambling syndicate from his plushy cell. Danny is roped into fighting for Vargis, but will he meet his match before the Internal Affairs investigation finds him innocent?

This is a classic 'cop-behind-bars' film with all the lags giving him a hard time. Tony Schiena's performance is acceptable but some scenes are a little laughable. Specifically the bit where he is undercover as a cliché biker with a hairpiece that is obviously a wig from 100yds, when the drug dealer asks "Are you a cop?" and the camera cuts to Schiena's face with this monstrosity of a rug on top of it I laughed out loud pretty hard.

Nonetheless, when he isn't wearing a dodgy costume, Schiena is a welcome surprise as a lead, playing a rugged tough-guy well enough. Vinnie Jones' american accent has improved a great deal and he played a feasible gangster and deserves some credit; standing head and shoulders above the rest of the acting talent of this film. The direction is good enough, although it is not without it's flaws, but the action and romance is all very snappy and steamy (respectively!).

This film is effectively a feature-length UFC bout, with most of the convicts in considerable shape, the plot is predictable and the IA agent is a complete stereotype. I honestly have no idea why the protagonist (Tony Schiena) doesn't even warrant a mention on the DVD cover whilst the cameo Kimbo Slice puts in earns him a headline name banner; very odd decision by the promotion company in my opinion, but it demonstrates how much name-dropping sells film. Worth a watch if you like prison-movie and can grin and bear the cheesy acting. Average.

If you are thinking of ordering the German FSK18 import on 3D blu ray you might like to know that it's a very poor 3D conversion - there's a scene early on with the prisoners standing in their orange uniforms and the uniforms are all floating unnaturally on top of the people - it looks dreadful.

I can forgive that though. What I can't forgive is that the film shows clear signs of having been censored, with all the key violent moments cut away from or cut altogether. German censors are among the most brutal in the world, so it goes without saying that the film is worthless as a result.

I only paid about £2.50 but still feel ripped off.

DO NOT BUY THIS VERSION OF THE FILM. If you must buy it, buy the uncut 2D version. There may well be an uncut 3D version out there, but this is not it, and the 3D is so poor that I wouldn't recommend hunting it down either.

Brilliant story line- Great mix of characters. Originally bought this one for my other half and didn't think id particularly like it but id defiantly watch it again. Some of the scenes were quite violent and gruesome, so this is not one for the faint hearted.

Very predicatable with poor acting on the part of many, a disappointment. Kimbo slice had a bit part which in a cage fighting film indicates how the casting was poor.

It's a good film if you like fighting but the acting isn't amazing and the plot is a bit stupid but other than that its just a fighting film

Take it or leave it, this film did not meet up to the adverts, just run of the mill, nothing out of the ordinary.
