I bought this for a friend who is a huge fan of Enid Blyton and knows these books well. They wanted some new copies in goog condition to keep and read. Sadly, they said the books have been altered. They refer to the characters wearing `jeans` instead of shorts and it mentions pound coins which did not even exist in the times the books were written, my friend said there are quite a few things like that in them. We have since heard that some of these books have been `updated` to make them more relevant? Whatever the reason, the alterations have taken away some of the `feel` of the original books. If I had known they were altered, I would not have bought them at all, it is really sad that some people don`t seem to know when to leave things alone. My friend will be exchanging them or selling them on a.s.a.p. It should say clearly when they are advertised that THESE BOOKS CONTAIN ALTERATIONS, so they are NOT ORIGINALS! It would appear that you really do need to try and track down the originals if you want them as they were, apparently, the stories are pretty much the same, but for my friend, they have been ruined and I wish I had never brought them.
