1.0 out of 5 stars HDNL lost my item! I don't trust them
In response to a previous custommers comments about HDNL I ordered this item 1 week ago with dispatch from Amazon 2 days later and tracked to the HDNL depot 2 days after this. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great bundle, 5 Dec 2010

This review is from: Nintendo Wii Console (Black) with Wii Fit Plus and Balance Board + Motion Plus Controller (Wii) (Video Game)
This bundle has everything you need to get you started (except a TV to plug it into), although if you want to have a tennis match against a live opponent rather than the system mii (a cartoon character), you'll need a second Wii Remote Plus Wii Remote Plus - Black or alternative brand. If you want to box (virtually) against a real opponent, you'll need an additional nunchuk as well Nintendo Nunchuk Controller - Black (Wii). However, for solo exercising, it provides everything. The wii and balance board are easy to set up and simple to use. It comes with the latest Wii Remote Plus which has the motion sensor built in, instead of as an add on. It can support four Wii Remotes for multiple play. There are two options included for connecting to the TV - Composite and SCART, but no HD support which is surprising since HD ready TVs have been the norm for several years. Serious gamers may find the graphics a little lacking, but they seem fine to us.

If you haven't used wii fit before, it takes various measurements like weight, balance, etc to work out your wii fitness age. As you progress your wii fitness age should decrease. Don't worry if you share your machine because you can hide all the grisly details of your weight, BMI, wii fitness age, etc by PIN number. For the slimmers, you can also set yourself targets, both in weight loss over a period of time, and calories you want to burn per session. You also get your choice of personal trainers, and you can use a preset group of exercises to target specific areas or just pick them ad hoc to suit your needs.

The exercises start at a fairly gentle beginner level although you can move up to advanced. Like computer games, your scores are recorded, and it's great to see the improvement day by day. There are additional training exercises, which comprise the "plus" part of wii fit. Things like segway, cycling, etc, which might seem a bit odd considering you are stationary, but they seem to work by leaning in different directions and walking in place on the balance board. The yoga and balance games are a good way to help warm up and cool down. The exercises may not be difficult enough for some hard-core gym addicts, but they are fine for the majority of people. If you want a really difficult workout there are plenty of wii exercise discs/games on the market both on Amazon and other retailers. I understand that The Biggest Loser for wii The Biggest Loser Challenge (Wii), which you can find for under a tenner, will definitely make you feel the burn and have aching muscles the following day, if that's what you're after.

wii Sports, which comes on a second disc, can be added towards your daily exercise goal, as can any non-wii exercise. The training is obviously originally designed for the US market with things like ten pin bowling and baseball, but it does also have tennis, golf and boxing. We would have liked to have seen cricket on it for batting and bowling practice, but you can't have everything. Like the wii fit, wii Sports gives useful tips to improve your game.

A nice inclusion is the ability to weigh your pets (cats and dogs), after you have weighed yourself, by just holding the animal when you are on the balance board. This is great if you have your pets on a special diet or need to watch their weight. Although they can't do any exercise on the wii, the little avatars of your pets often pop in to join you on various wii fitness exercises like jogging, cycling and segway.

If you are debating on whether to get a wii fit or not, I'd definitely recommend buying one, whatever your age or ability. You can do as little or as much as you like, fitting it in around your lifestyle, and it sure beats going out in horrid weather to get your daily exercise. It's also a lot of fun, so even sofa spuds will want to exercise. With additional handsets Wii Remote Plus - Black the whole family can exercise and play together.`

FIRST MONTH'S UPDATE: Although improving fitness had been the primary goal for me, I've lost 8lbs lost in the first month which included the Christmas period, so wii fit definitely works, and I have gone from sceptical to convert. You can do a body test each day and this records your weight, so it is a great incentive to avoid overindulging. I do 45 minutes to 2 hours using the wii fit or wii sport games each day. You can feel virtuous while having fun, and even if you only have 10 minutes to spare, it's so easy to turn on and have a couple of games. However, it is addictive and you'll find yourself doing 30 mins before you realise it. It's proved so popular over the holidays, most of the activity has been multiple user. It was certainly a lot more enjoyable than slumping in front of the telly after Christmas dinner. We had a wide range of ages and abilities and we've all loved it, whether playing solo or together. My wii fit age has fluctuated between 27 and 75, so I don't think it is a measure of anything other than how alert (or hungover) you are at the time. The batteries in the wii remotes last about 20-25 hours, so I would recommend one of the many chargers available if you use your wii as much as us. We've bought an inexpensive Invero Black Nintendo Wii Twin Dual Charging Station Charge Dock Stand with 2 Rechargeable Battery Packs plus LED Light for Wii Remote Control and it works fine once you find the miniscule on/off switch on the back. We use it on both the sitting room and family room televisions, so an inexpensive duplicate wired sensor bar Micropix - Replacement Wired Sensor Bar For Nintendo Wii means we don't need to prise it off and restick the bar to the TV each time. I got Just Dance (Wii) for Christmas and this is absolutely hilarious, whether as a dancer or spectator. I can't remember when we have laughed so much. It's good exercise too.

Had already participated in the games etc on the Wii and were impressed. Decided to get our own and loved the black console, etc - blends in so well. We are no "spring chickens" and not very technically minded but this can be set up so easily and anyone of any age will enjoy some aspect of this. Easy way to keep up your excercise in the comfort of your own home when the weather bad. My 86 year old Dad is also keen to participate and does quite well with the Wii Sports resort which we have as well!! If you have been thinking about it - just go for it - its not just for the youngsters - although they love it too.

I had not had much experience of Nintendo's Wii before I bough this one, but have to say it is great! Games in which you be actively involved with the whole family offer so much more than the rather withdrawn world of the X-box and Playstation, but in fairnes they offer a different sort of entertainment anyway. Get one. You won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nintendo Wii Console (Black) with Wii Fit Plus and..., 22 Dec 2010

This review is from: Nintendo Wii Console (Black) with Wii Fit Plus and Balance Board + Motion Plus Controller (Wii) (Video Game)
Excellent.
I wish I had brought this console ages ago. Brought mainly as last resort on getting into some sort of a fitness routine as Ive tried many Gyms and just left after the initial spurt of activity for the first couple of weeks.
I know it is too early to say yet but I did lost some weight in the fist week and in a fun way and all at home with a goal each day to get results.
Neighbours have got involved in the games, which are many and there is undoubtedly friendly rivalry there.
Also easy to connect to the Internet.
I Am now looking at the other fitness, sport and trainer games to try to get a personal routine that suits my needs, not to say that Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports aren't enough for most needs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very pleased, 13 Dec 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Nintendo Wii Console (Black) with Wii Fit Plus and Balance Board + Motion Plus Controller (Wii) (Video Game)
This came well packaged and good to see everything was in place. I have a wall hanging TV with a scart socket at the back and glad to see there's a scart adaptor for the Red/Yellow/White input leads. Also this comes with one controller (as expected) and one nunchuck which I didn't expect to be in there. All in all a decent set of comprehensive instructions was included so easy to set up. There's a wealth of other non game related things such as internet connnectivity / mail features if interested. The black version fits in with the TV and looks pretty sleek compared with the white version so very pleased. I bought a console package with includes the sports & fitness which is great. All in all really pleased and black version looks good.

I got this for my birthday and I'm really pleased with it so far.
The black colour looks much more sleek and modern than the white version and the balance board is good fun.
Delivery was fast even with super saver and the delivery man even rang me to check where I wanted the parcel to go seeing as I was out when he came.
The price I paid was a bargain as well compared to other stores.
Would recommend!

When I received this package I was very happy to discover that it comes with the latest Wii Remote Plus controller, not the separate Wii Remote and Motion Plus add-an as described in the description.

As I had ordered a 2nd Wii Remote Plus controller to go along with this I was delighted to find I now have a matching pair!

5.0 out of 5 stars exercising without the embarrassment, 3 Feb 2011

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Nintendo Wii Console (Black) with Wii Fit Plus and Balance Board + Motion Plus Controller (Wii) (Video Game)
I had been looking at the Wii Fit for quite a while but something always came up before I got round to getting one. Then in the sales after Christmas last year and there it was - the new Wii fit plus - it was irresistible, and so managed to get one.

This year we were looking for something special for another family member, something which would distinguish their board from mine without having to write or mark it and we saw the black board one. I have to admit that it looks classier than my white one with mucky foot marks on it - I use my Wii Fit in bare feet.

With the black kit you also get a motion plus controller and nunchuk. The motion plus wii-mote is much lighter than using the heavier add-on motion plus which I have on my wi-mote. This motion plus controller is the cherry on the cake, making it more than a Wii Fit.

There is a weight limit of 330 lbs (23 stone 8 lbs or 149.7 kg). The Wii fit plus contains all the original Wii fit "games" plus an extra 21 new activities. I don't have the original Wii fit so I cannot tell which of the games are original and which games are the new ones.

You can play from within the general menu of games or use the "my wii fit plus" option. Within the "my Wii fit plus" option you have the option of completing set Wii fit plus routines, creating your own personal routines or picking an activity from a list of your most used games. It is also useful to click on the animated wii fit board as you can get a nice selection of the games you like to play.

Of the "my Wii fit plus" options I have found the "my routine" option the best. The "my routine" option allows me to pick and choose the activities which I undertake during a Wii fit session: it allows the user to ensure that the Wii fit does not select exercises which will cause any further issues with injuries or illnesses. For example, if you have a back injury or an illness there will be some exercises that you will be unable to do.

Multiplayer mode allows you to test yourself against family and friends, but you need to remember that the longer and more vigourously you play the stiffer you will be in the morning.

One good thing about the Wii fit is no matter what length of time between use it doesn't moan at you the way some of the brain training programs do.

Once you have your Wii fit connected to the Internet you can download it the "Wii fit plus Channel" - it needs 121 blocks of memory on the Wii fit (whatever that means). I downloaded it and I have to say that I could find no difference in the game play (except for a disc loading comment which I had never had before) - there were no extra visible games, nor could I find an option for wii fi playing.

The best thing about the wii fit is that you are exercising in the privacy of your own home, without other people watching what you are doing or trying to get you to do more that you feel ready to - going to a gym is especially difficult if you are self conscious or afraid that you may look stupid because you don't know what to do.

A years gym membership is also expensive and the wii fit plus is a one off cost that you can take out of its storage box when you are ready or have a few moments. Most gyms expect you to make a booking and book the piece of equipment you want to use, this is never a problem with the wii fit - unless you run out of batteries for the remote or board.

I have to say that I enjoy the balance games, as well as games such as obstacle course, snowball fight and rhythmic kung fu. If you do the jogging "games", and you have previously played Wii Sports Resort (Wii Sports Resort (Wii) with Wii MotionPlus Accessory), then you will recognise the island and many of its locations. Even now after three months I have still not tried all the games available on the Wii fit plus.

You are given a way of tracking your health, weight and fitness without the embarrassment of other people being present. It is embarrassment and cost that stops many people from going to a gym in the first place so the Wii fit, in that sense, is a godsend.

I have the wii fit with balance board, but you can buy it separately -Wii Fit Plus - Game Only (Wii) - whether or not the few extra games are worth the money I'm not sure, I know I would be very ticked off if I had the original and paid out for this to find that it was just the old games with a couple of extras added.

If you don't have the original wii fit then I would suggest that you go for the black wii fit plus and get the extras, but if you have the original you may want to think twice about the expense of a new disc for just a handful of new games.
