Relentless Action and sci-fi adventure with RTP
on 6 February 2007
I completely enjoyed Raising the Past as a writer of action novels myself. I had enjoyed Robinson's Didymus Contingency, but in all honesty this one really hit the "action nerve" better for me. Once the story takes off which is pretty much in the prologue it hooks you and then you might as well hang on until you hit the back cover. How can you beat ancient excavations and "The Thing" style aliens hunting down the heroes as they battle for their lives against the unnatural dangers and the natural. Starving Polar bears, killer whales and the frigid environment all take nearly as much toll on this team as do the wickedly done aliens. Personally, it was a treat and I'm looking forward to the next. I'm not sure why others would say it was bad--I'll just agree with author James rollins (whose blurb adorns the cover) and say, "Don't miss this one!"
