I bought one of these and had problems installing the software as the disk contains folders that have names and characters not recognised in windows so will not run.

After some fiddling about I managed to copy the files on the disk to a temporary folder on the PC, renamed them and ran them from the folder. The drivers installed ok and I got the thing to work and now have my sim contacts and messages archived.

You must install the drivers or the reader will not recognise a sim.

Folders on disk..

Yes it is a bit difficult to install but at this low price, what do you expect!!!! At the end of the day it's worth it, as it does what it is meant to do!!!!! Take a bit of patience and effort and you will have a product that does the same job as one that costs £35.00
I'm not greatly pleased with the overall product(Lack of paper assistance with installing product) But it certainly made up for the extremely fast despatch time, I was able to use the product the next day, yes... the next day after ordering, that doesn't happen now a day anymore, so I applaud you.
I do recommend this product under strict stipulation that you have to be a bit patient and use your common sense!!!!
Overall value for money! At the end of the day that is what we all actually want!!!

Opened this plain white jiffy bag after long wait.

Immediately knew I BOUGHT A BUMMER.

No instructions, no invoice. Just a USB device Of rather flimpsy apperance in a small self sealing clear bag, plus a MINI -- YES A MINI DISC (who uses those things these days )Eventually got the MINI DISC to run, opened up to a file full of sub folders, no autorun function, though there is a file labelled autorun buried deep with the sub folders pmsl Plugged in the usb device, thought i try my luck with windows trying to recognise it... HEHEHEHEH WOW watch out for flying pork....

Eventually transferred all files from mini disc to pc. tried various ways to install anything at all lol, finally did manage to install some prog called sim max, looked handy BUUUTTTT no chance.
Only sees an RS232 port (who in gods name uses RS232 these days, especially for a usb device as sold???? ) no usb port option no way to select or change, says there is a convertor in there somewhere, but dont work, least i couldnt find it.

BOTTOM line USUAL FAR EASTERN RUBBISH dont waste your money and certainly dont waste an afternoon as i have just done. Most of this junk was taken off sale years ago...

SUGGEST AMAZON DO THE SAME.

Could be a useful device if the suppliers sorted the software out.

NOT EVEN BOTHERED TO RETURN IT, CANT BE BOTHERED WITH ALL THE RETURNS PROCEDURE.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

ADENDUM: Thanks to AMAZON intervention, Full purchase price (including postage) has now been refunded by DIGIFLEX. Thank you AMAZON and fair does to DIGIFLEX.

Sadly neither the original or its replacement worked. That said, the company went above and beyond to rectify this but I still want a USB Sim card reader that works.

Have given this product 1 star, as it can't be given a zero star rating! DIGIFLEX delivered this product the next day, so full marks for that. However, could not get the mini CD to load properly. It partially loaded onto the PC but when trying to use the product there was a file missing and a conflict generated. Tried copying the files to a new folder on the PC but unable to copy any of the files. The mini CD software prevented other programmes running on my PC and I ended up with my PC freezing and had to manually reboot the system so that I could uninstall all associated files. Eventually got my PC up & running again. Contacted DIGIFLEX, who immediately agreed a full refund and this was quickly processed, with monies back on my credit card within a couple of days, so again, well done DIGIFLEX. Not DIGIFLEX's fault, just a rubbish product! Therefore suggest Amazon removes this item from their website as it is obviously a bogus product, which I suppose is only to be expected for the price. You get what you pay for! I have now purchased "SIM Master 2" for around £20 and that works a treat first time plus the UK manufacturing company guarantees the product for 1 year and, providing you register the product with them, they also give technical support, should it be required.

Just wanted a simple product to download my old sim numbers. Not only does the software provided need to run on XP or Vista and not on Windows 7 or 8 but the reader requires to be plugged into a lead converting USB to a 9 pin serial port and then plugged into a 9 pin serial port to work (thats not RCA) on the computer. No one now days has that kind of port. This unit will not work plugged directly into a usb port despite being fitted with a usb plug. Waste of time do not buy this product.

I have installed this device and yet for some reason I can not get it to work despite trying various different drivers and softwares. The device feels cheap and poorly made. Now I know that you get what you pay for but even if I paid next to nothing I would still expect the thing to do what it claims to.

Absolutely rubbish! The unit heated up to the point that it began to warp my simcard. I think if I hadn't pulled the card out in time it would have been destroyed Beware don't buy this item!!

Where to start on this one. OK let's be positive. The seller agreed a full refund.
But this was because this little device does not work with either Windows 7 or 8. I tried them both and it is not recognised by either. Next up the driver on a mini disk does not load. Sorry but it just doesn't. It opened a number of files that could not be read by the computer. And lastly and most damming is the fact that this was designed for the big type of SIM cards that went out of use about four years ago. Most modern phones use the mini SIM cards and newest use Micro Mini cards. There is also a new generation of smart phones that no longer have SIM cards at all...but if you had one of those you wouldn't be looking at this device.
So unless you want a small ornament to hang up and gather dust or you run such an old form of software with an old form of SIM card that might possibly work; don't waste your money.

I should have realised that at £4, including postage, it wasn't going to be up to much. Plastic case was cracked, software says it is connected but refuses to read any SIM card. Please don't waste your money.
