5.0 out of 5 stars If you read only one book on table saws, this should be it!
Kelly Mehler is a master builder of fine, museum quality furniture. He has been working wood for 27 years, and his one-of-a-kind pieces are collectors items. As a teacher, he is remendously generous with his talents and his help to the amateur woodworker, and this book is a classic example of his style: no-frills, easy-to understand, and non-threatening. 3.0 out of 5 stars Too much mechanics; to little useage
I was disappointed mainly because i was looking for HOW TO USE with tips, jigs etc. Yes it does have some of this but only about 35% - the rest is all about the different types; set up etc.
Even the how to use is not really comprehensive and i found myself simply experimenting to achieve the best way - maybe that was a good thing!

As a teacher, he is remendously generous with his talents and his help to the amateur woodworker, and this book is a classic example of his style: no-frills, easy-to understand, and non-threatening. This book gives a sense that you can do the task, no matter how daunted you are by it. It is as thorough and well-produced as his two videos, which I am constantly reviewing for technique and procedural questions. I'm telling you, this is the book to buy if you want THE handbook on table saw use, and the videos will become your touchtones for reference and encouragement. Above all else, Mehler respects and loves wood and woodworking, and it comes through in his work, the pieces he builds, the classes he teaches, the videos, and this book. YOU CAN'T MISS WITH THIS ONE.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Table Saw Book, 30 Jun 2004
This review is from: The Table Saw Book (Paperback)
Great book for beginners (like me) to intermediates. Good detail, lots of pictures. American texts refer to european saws and their safety features regularly. Loads of techniques / ideas.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but American bias, 14 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Table Saw Book, The: Completely Revised and Updated (A Fine Woodworking Book) (Kindle Edition)
Table saws are very different in Europe and America due to health and safety. This book does cover the differences but its weird reading through all the material written by an American evangelising how great the European safety features such as roving knives are compared with a "normal" table saw, when you really would prefer to be getting info on how to make more use of the table saw you bought. Other than that, would recommend it for hits and tips very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good buy and really useful, 12 April 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Table Saw Book (Paperback)
I bought a new cast iron table saw and wanted more information than the saw manual provided. This book told me how to set up the saw accurately and how to keep my new saw maintained for the future. The book goes well beyond the saw manual and its even a good read in its own right.
If you have a table saw then this book is well worth buying for reference.
