4.0 out of 5 stars Learning to fly
A very interesting read and one that has helped to fill in some gaps in terms of what the PPL syllabus is about. The only minor observation would be that it would have provided more in sight if the costs of going from zero to solo was explained more. As a glider pilot, I found this a good 'Pilots' book. Well done Andy...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for me.
I'm afraid I actually had to stop reading this book halfway through. It is badly written (grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, etc.) and very irritatingly boastful - 'I passed my exams with 100% again, I am doing so well' etc. Sorry, but can't recommend this one.

A great read for someone learning to fly. Not a training manual but a diary of what it takes to pass your PPL. Very enjoyable read

This is a great eBook for those thinking or wanting to learn to fly. The ability to get an overview of the PPL process all the way through before ever sitting in the hot seat is priceless. There are also some great tips to that extra bit of homework.

I have booked my first lessons out of Netherthorpe and already have MS Flight Simulator setup with UK2000's VFR airfields (as near as you'll get to the real thing) along with Generation X VFR scenery for the whole UK. One bug bear with the Gen X scenery is the fact its mainly flat so finding checkpoints is that bit harder if you're at low altitude.

Off to buy the night rating book. Hope there's an IMC rating book to follow!
