Raddon Keefe's achievement is to have written a book that works as both a scholarly reference and as a gripping page turner. 'Chatter' is a technically detailed and even-handed treatment of a complex and contentious subject that is too frequently hijacked by suspect and paranoid agendas. His main argument - that all sides must start engaging properly in the debate between security and civil liberties - may not be particularly new, but the breadth and elegance of his story telling and the honesty of his narrative really gives the argument some weight. Absolutely essential reading for 21st Century citizens.
