I was delighted to receive the Mindstorms NXT 2.0 kit for Christmas - even in my forties, I love Lego, and a grown-up version is great! I also was given a book of models to build, but a quick examination revealed that these were for the earlier version 1.0 kit, which has a substantially different inventory of parts, such that I couldn't actually build *any* of the models in the 1.0 book with the 2.0 kit. So I started to look around for a suitable source of the missing parts.

This kit isn't perfect for this purpose, but it's very close. This adds nearly all the parts that are required to build NXT 1.0 models with a 2.0 kit. For anyone else wanting to do this, the remaining missing pieces are:
- one Mindstorms sound sensor
- one 15-hole straight liftarm
- three 24-tooth gears
- two 56x26 balloon tyres
- one turntable assembly
- two 5.2cm coloured balls

Most of those are easy enough to track down on eBay or Bricklink, and having this kit to fill in most of the gaps makes this process a lot easier. The kit contains 800 or so pieces - a massive selection of Technics parts (gears, axles, bricks, wheels, pins) and is packed in a strong plastic storage case with two compartmented trays to help organise the parts - much better than the packaging Lego use for the non-education kits. If you've got a Mindstorms kit, this will hugely increase the range of models you can make, and is well worth getting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant addition to Mindstorms NTX (or any other) set, 30 Jan. 2013

I was an early purchaser of the Mindstorms NXT set and have been a bit frustrated recently by the fact that most of the online and published instructions now seem to be for the NTX 2.0 version. This set fills the gap really well and with a bit of improvisation I have been able to make most of the models. It does not fill all the gaps, you may want to consider a second touch sensor and an updated colour sensor for example but it certainly goes most of the way.

Big variety of components that make possible for you to build more projects. There are so many components included that I use only one Resource Set to supplement two Mindstorms NXT 2.0 kits.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good addition, 18 Jan. 2014

This is a necessary addition to the NXT2 robot, which doesn't come with enough parts on its own. The storage box with different compartments is very useful. My only criticism is the price.

This is great expansion pack for those kids that love to build and invent with lego. Hours of fun has been had. Slightly expensive.
