4.0 out of 5 stars Good plot, enjoying series
The story lines are quite good, and the book well paced. I'm reading them in order. Characterisation can be a little stereotypical, Caton is a bit perfect, and the women are all in love with him, and if not, aren't described as attractive. Using a lesbian character doesn't alter this basic premise. Whilst enjoying the read, what is VERY irritating (kindle version)...

Using a lesbian character doesn't alter this basic premise. Whilst enjoying the read, what is VERY irritating (kindle version) are the number of typos / spelling errors or plot name errors. It really detracts from concentrating on the story line when overwhelming has been replaced with 'overweening' and paracetamol is spelt ''paracetemol', Lock 13 for Lock 12', 'Ray' for 'Dave, etc.

Cracking read. Could not put it down. Good, well constructed story. An eye opener into the illegal immigration racket and illicit goings on in the underworld.

I have read most of this series starring DCI Tom Caton, and this is up to the quality of the rest of the books in this series.
These books have a familiar feel, and similiar to Peter James's Grace books. Police precedural with well drawn characters. This book deals with a rather secretive world of Chinese people smuggling, and yet Bill Rogers makes it all very believable, Obviously well researched.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Tigers Cave, 11 Oct 2011
This review is from: The Tiger's Cave (DCI Tom Caton Manchester Crime Novels Book 3) (Kindle Edition)
Bill Rogers has come up with yet another a fascinating story line, his knowledge of Manchester paints a picture that the story builds upon, and there is plenty of action and intrigue, with good down to earth policing approaches. Once again I feel Bill Rogers has got the mix spot on, a book that is hard to put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant read, 5 April 2014

Complex and yet simple, this book takes us from the depravation of Manchester's China Town, across the world to China itself. The stark reality of the sex slavery trade is intertwined well with the intimacy of personal relationships. A good, well written crime novel and a damn good read.

Manchester based detective with a good character and charm, takes the lead in a complex story of Chinese drug and sex trade activity. The story was a bit unbelievable at times but I thought it was a good page turner and enjoyed the human side of the story.

I find Tom Caton a likable sleuth and this is an unusual twist on a mystery. It is pretty credible though the female
Gazetted officers are less so
