4.0 out of 5 stars Good scanner
We were looking for a simple scanner mostly for documents and a few photos but nothing too elaborate. This absolutely fits the bill and works exactly as stated. We use it with both Windows 7 and Linux and one of the reasons we chose it was because there were Linux drivers available. The scanner is slim and light, it operates quickly and quietly. 3.0 out of 5 stars Epson Perfection V33
I had to change my computer and upgrade to Windows 7, My 10 year old Scanner Epson 610 of 10 years had no new drivers compactable with this new computer, which made my beloved scanner redundant.

I design 3D greetings cards which can be 5 layers high, and scan them to show them on the internet. My old scanner could keep the background and foreground completely...

I bought this for my Mum who is 80. She loves it and hadn't had a scanner before and it's very user friendly. She's scanning everything and then emailing me the results. It has stopped her obsesssion of hoarding newspaper cuttings to show people! Photographs are very good as in the general quality of scans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfection V33, 18 Jun 2011

I bought this to upgrade a HP ScanJet 3400C which I've had since Windows 98, I can happily report that the Perfection V33 is quiet, compact, quick and the software is easy to use with perfect image results (I find using 'professional' settings best) - highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Epson Perfection V33, 14 Oct 2011
This review is from: Epson Perfection V33 4800dpi LED Photo Scanner (Electronics)
I've had two weeks to play with this scanner and have been using it for digitizing my photo collection, it doesn't disappoint,it is quite fast and I like the way it can scan 3 or 4 photos at a time and then file them individually, a big change from my previous scanner. The quality of the scans is very good and I would have no hesitation in recommending this product. The only thing I don't like about it is the electrical connections are on the front of the scanner, why didn't they put them at the back?

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Scanner, Easy to use and full of scanning options!, 20 Feb 2011
This review is from: Epson Perfection V33 4800dpi LED Photo Scanner (Electronics)
This Epson scanner is marvelous! I am a student so I have scanning jobs every day and this scanner certainly fits the bill! It finds the pictures automatically; eliminates black lines and has extremely good quality in minimal time! Its software is installed very fast and there's online support and help and the software it uses is very easy to use and has various scanning options! I am 100% satisfied with this scanner and would recommend it to anyone looking for an excellent scanner at a good price tag! The scanner arrived only 2 days after ordering! Awesome customer service!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Scanner, 6 Nov 2011
This review is from: Epson Perfection V33 4800dpi LED Photo Scanner (Electronics)
This is an excellent scanner! I like the way you can scan more than one item in fact as long as the items are separated you can fill the scanner with as many items as you like and they'll all be scanned as individual items! Thumbs up for this one.

I am already the very happy owner of a V500, I just bought this as a present for my father-in-law to replace his old scanner, which still works fine but is not supported on his new Windows 7 laptop.

I have only briefly tested it but it seems very well made and gives quick access to the various scanning options via the buttons. As other have mentioned, the location of the power and usb connections is rather odd - on the right hand side at the front - but overall it seems very capable and reasonably fast. LED light means no warm up time required. Works just fine on Windows 7.

I am already used to it, but I find the Epson software very capable and easy to use, whether in auto or expert modes. Its auto-colour correction produces surprisingly good results from seemingly unsalvageable faded/tinted pictures, often without any further tweaking being required. Very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous, 20 Dec 2011
This review is from: Epson Perfection V33 4800dpi LED Photo Scanner (Electronics)
I had lots of photos to scan for a presentation. Normally I would have had to do one at a time and was dreading the thought. This scanner allows you to put 2 or 3 on the bed and when you upload to your computer, you can name and file each one individually which is great.

If you are looking for a quality, straight-forward and inexpensive scanner then this could be for you. It is easy to set up, quiet and reasonably quick. Installing the software is easy, but you need to take a few minutes to get familiar with the settings and operation, as you would with most things. After that it is very straght forward. I've stopped using Paperport 10 as I found the scanner's software easier, more reliable and able to do all the same tasks.
