Adidas design "genius" and non stretchable fabric covering.
on 26 April 2015
Just a couple of quick comments mainly to flag up what I think is a huge problem with this resistance band: the fabric covering to the elastic band can be a real problem in preventing the band from being stretched. Basically, the fabric covering itself is not elastic but rather is a non elastic cloth which, whilst concertinaed to simulate "give", is far too easily snagged for example when using your feet to anchor the band. So - both feet on the band with a handle held in each hand and only the left side can be raised above stomach height. This is because the non elastic cloth has stretched (or rather concertinaed out) to its maximum and prevents one side from moving further! This is, to my mind, a really serious and certainly very irritating design flaw and one that will probably prompt me to send the resistance "tube" back to Amazon.
The other problem is that Adidas has seen fit (no pun intended!) to omit any mention of the pounds/kg resistance that its three levels of "Tube" offer. A shot in the dark and my best guess is that Level 3 is offering about 8kg of resistance.
Edit: the hard outer shell at the *bottom* of the handles - where the rope connects with the handles - makes resistance squats painful because the hard shell pushes in to the shoulder. I've had to use a towel around the shoulder to stop the hard shell from digging in to flesh. This is just plain and simple shockingly bad design on the part of Adidas. There are far, far better (and cheaper) bands out there. Avoid.
