4.0 out of 5 stars Satan's Prison - Well, for the most part, 22 Feb 2011
This review is from: WWE - Iron Will: The Anthology Of WWE's Toughest Match [DVD] (DVD)
Right I have just finished watching the elimination chamber anthology, Iron Will. That match is one of many that hasn't benefited from WWE's move toward the PG rating. That first one was so bloody and violent, and with one botch that could have legitimately put HHH out for good (with nowhere to go but his office in Stamford Connecticut) that it scarcely resembles some of the later matches in the set, especially when it gets onto the No Way Out tradition era where the Chamber is seemingly reduced to an almost by the numbers formality rather than the true attraction it is at the start of the set when it was barely ever booked, rather than having two guaranteed for one night of the year.

Also, as is common with most of the other specialty match box sets, something is lost when the commentators announce the awe they hold for it, for them it has been sometime between matches, but for the audience, it has been however long it takes for Josh Matthews to do a 'funny'segue and constantly repeat the same lines ('32 ft. across, 2 miles of chain'). Also it is slightly hampered by the over reliance on the 'glass' in the pods being constantly billed as unbreakable. Fair enough in the first match or two, but after hearing it time and again and seeing superstars through it as often, it does get old.

And for a wrestling fan to get tired of repetition, it does show that something is amiss.

But, overall, I enjoyed the set, and oerhaps if taken in only moderate doses rather than the binge I did, it can be enjoyed on so many levels.

having 3 discs of just one type of match might seem boring, but it goes to show how gripping the stories in the Chamber can be. Yes, there are one or two (or three) Superstars who are in more than one match, but there's a reason why - they MAKE the matches work!

5.0 out of 5 stars Iron Will: The Anthology Of WWE's Toughest Match, 30 Oct 2011
This review is from: WWE - Iron Will: The Anthology Of WWE's Toughest Match [DVD] (DVD)
This DVD is an anthology of all the Elimination Chamber matches in history as of when this DVD came out. I will rate the matches but that might not be much help to anyone as they'll probably all be about 10/10. The dvd is hosted by Todd Grisham who introduces each match. Disk one also has four promos for different Elmination Chamber matches as bonus features.

Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho vs. Booker T vs. Kane vs. Rob Van Dam (Survivor Series 2002) -This was the first ever chamber match and was the idea of Eric Bischoff who came out at the start to explain the rules. The match started with Triple H and Rob Van Dam, Rob Van Dam went straight after Triple H and they used the chamber as a weapon right away busting Triple H open. After five minutes Chris Jericho entered and worked with Triple H to beat down RVD. Everyone had some time to dominate the match when they first entered as they were fresh to the match. There were some memorable moments in this match such as Kane throwing Jericho through the bullet proof glass and RVD and Shawn Michaels both hitting moves off the top of the pods. The battle between the final too was very close as well. 10/10

Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho vs. Goldberg vs. Randy Orton vs. Kevin Nash (Summerslam 2003) - This match was shorter than the last one with only three minutes between each pod opening. I think this was to protect Triple H who had a groin injury in this match. This one started off with Jericho and Michaels and they wrestled in the ring for a while, the chamber didn't even come into play until after Orton entered. This was good though because it was a different way to start and Michaels and Jericho are great in regular matches. Once Goldberg entered he pretty much dominated the match because he was fresh into the match and he used a lot of his power on everyone he could. Kevin Nash also left an impression when he got so angry at being eliminated that he attacked everyone that was out of their pods before leaving. The match had a decent ending too, not as good as the previous match but still good. 10/10

Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Triple H vs. Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit vs. Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Edge (New Years Revolution 2005) - Shawn Michaels was the special guest referee for this match. Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho started off this match and wrestled in the ring, like the last match the Chamber didn't come into play until after the first pod had opened. Triple H was next to enter and he took advantage of both Chris' being on the mat. This chamber had lots of memorable moments like Chris Benoit delivering a Flying Headbutt off the top of one of the pods and Randy Orton fighting to survive against his two former Evolution team mates. This was the best chamber so far in my opinion. 10/10

Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE Championship: John Cena vs. Carlito vs. Chris Masters vs. Kurt Angle vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Kane (New Years Revolution 2006) - John Cena and Shawn Michaels start this match, they start to brawl right away and the Chamber is used. When Carlito enters and starts to hit moves Shawn and John team up for a short while to take out Carlito. When Kurt Angle enters he dominates for a while hitting everyone with at least two german suplexes. When Chris Masters got into the match he and Carlito teamed up together like they said they would before the match(not shown on this DVD). Kane was last to enter the match. This was yet another great Chamber match with lots of destruction. After the match Edge cashes in his Money in the Bank contract on the winner which is shown in full. 10/10

Extreme Elimination Chamber Match for the ECW Championship: Big Show vs. Hardcore Holly vs. CM Punk vs. Test vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Bobby Lashley (ECW December to Dismember 2006) - This match was called an Extreme Elimination Chamber because in each pod there was a weapon. One had a steel chair, one had a crowbar, one had a table and one had a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire. This match started off slow but picked up a bit as time went on. This did probably end up being the most disappointing chamber match though, with the best three people in the match all being eliminated first and way too early. Also for the first time ever there were times when someone was just waiting, because there was only one person out of their pod. It still had some good moments and is definitely worth a watch, but doesn't live up to the other matches that came before it on this set. 7/10

Elimination Chamber Match, Winner Faces The World Heavyweight Champion At WrestleMania 24:
Undertaker vs. Batista vs. Finlay vs. MVP vs. Big Daddy V vs. Great Khali (No Way Out 2008) - This was the first of two Chamber matches to happen on this night. It was slower than most of the other chambers but that made sense considering who was involved. It's still pretty good though, but not that many memorable moments. The final two were fairly obvious to most people from the start but that didn't take away from the match. 9/10

Elimination Chamber Match, Winner Faces The WWE Champion At WrestleMania 24: Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Chris Jericho vs. Umaga vs. JBL (No Way Out 2008) - This chamber match was a lot faster paced than the previous one. Jericho and Michaels started it off and wrestled in the ring until Umaga came out and dominated. At one point Jericho and Michaels team up to try and submit Umaga with a Crossface and the Walls of Jericho at the same time before JBL came into the match. Most of the eliminations in this match came very close together one after another which was quite entertaining because of the fast pace. This was the better chamber match of the night. 10/10

Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE Championship: Edge vs.Triple H vs. Undertaker vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Vladimir Kozlov vs. Big Show (No Way Out 2009) - This match starts off with Jeff Hardy and Edge and it's pretty fast paced. Unfortunately Jeff Hardy catches Edge by surprise and eliminates him before the first pod is even open. I'm a big fan of Edge so it was a shame he had to go so early but it was still entertaining, and means we were guaranteed a new champion at the end of this match. Vladimir Kozlov was next out and he dominated Hardy for a while, just as Hardy started to get in some offense Big Show entered and the two of them worked over Jeff for a while. This really slowed the pace down as they just took it in turns to do a big move on Jeff. The match started to pick up again once Triple H entered and from then on the match only gets better. It's very entertaining and the battle between the final two is great. 10/10

Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: John Cena vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Kane vs. Mike Knox vs. Chris Jericho vs. Kofi Kingston (No Way Out 2009) - While Kofi Kingston is making his way down to the chamber for this match Edge attacks him from behind and crushes his head with a chair, he then runs and locks himself in a pod. Chris Jericho and Rey Mysterio start the match off, they wrestle in the ring for a while and use the chamber too, when Kane enters next he starts to dominate so Jericho and Rey accidentally end up working together. Knox is next in the match and he dominates too until he is slowed down. Edge is next to enter and Mysterio goes right after him for what he did to Kofi. John Cena is last to enter the match. This match has some good storytelling too with the reaction of Edge after he pins someone in the match as he realises he is being allowed to be in the match and can actually win the title. This is my favourite chamber so far. 10/10

Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE Championship: Sheamus vs.John Cena vs. Triple H vs. Randy Orton vs. Ted DiBiase vs. Kofi Kingston (Elimination Chamber 2010) - Sheamus and Kofi Kingston start this match off, they don't really use the Chamber as a weapon and Sheamus mostly controls the pace. Triple H is next to enter and he and Sheamus stare down before fighting, it's very back and forth between them. When Randy Orton comes in next he dominates everyone, using the chamber as a weapon. Just as his momentum is about to stop from Sheamus throwing him into the ring post his Legacy protégé enters and after he pauses to work out if he should help or attack Randy they team up and dominate some more with a rope hung DDT onto the steel on Triple H and a very creative double team attack on Kofi using the chamber. This match is slower than most chambers but is still very good because there's a lot of in ring psychology to make this a really good match. 10/10

After the match is over Mr McMahon comes out and says the winner must defend their title against Batista right now, and then Batista comes out and they have a quick impromptu match which is on this DVD in full.

Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: Undertaker vs. Chris Jericho vs. John Morrison vs. R-Truth vs. CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio (Elimination Chamber 2010) - This is the final match of the night and of this DVD. CM Punk came out cutting a promo and started the match with R Truth, he even carried on with his promo part way into the match which was entertaining. The pace of this match would change from fast to slow all though out this match. It wasn't quite as good as some previous chambers but still good. 9.5/10

Overall this is a great set, Elimination Chamber matches are always great quality and very entertaining matches so I really recommend this DVD.

Great collection covers the matches really well.. The elimation chamber boarder around the screen was a bit annoying however it is a great collection of matches.. The only thing I would like changed would be for the dvds to include more background behind each match.. Like trailers of how each superstar was in the match.. Loved the Extreme rules Chamber match..
