4.0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile deluxe pick up., 18 Feb. 2011
This review is from: Keeper Of The Seven Keys (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)
It's excellent that many of these old classic albums are getting the deluxe treatment recently, Black sabbath, Rainbow amongst a few others. Helloween parts 1 & 2 however remain the quintessential power metal albums of all time. And so there isn't too much to discuss here; basically, these two albums have undergone a courteously remastered/brushed up process. (which ever you would like to call it.) and sent out as a combined package, There is a medium'ish incentive to buy this though:- Helloween deluxe edition ultimately is what it is, a relatively simple digipak transmission of the two albums from the expanded edition sets from two down to one.

It's certainly the way they should have always been since they are both essentially albums which have from the same mold, and they look really good together too in this set despite the loss of the artwork from the second Helloween release; which as far as my knowledge goes isn't showcased, makes this deluxe then a definite worthwhile pick up. It's a reasonably priced, reasonable deluxe item and and a certainly above reasonable double album. And although this is absolutely essential for new fans and introductions to the power metal genre, fans which are maybe already accustomed to the music of Helloween may decide to give this a miss if they already have the two albums. Becouse: there are virtually no extras on here that can't be found elsewhere. Good package but not amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helloween - Keeper Of The Seven Keys 1&2 Deluxe Edition, 5 May 2012

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
This review is from: Keeper Of The Seven Keys (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)
This package is a combination release of German Power Metal band Helloween's classic 1987 and 1988 albums Keeper Of The Seven Keys 1 & 2, remastered and put together in one double-digipak with extensive linear notes as well as nine bonus tracks, which consist of Keeper'-era studio B-sides and also alternative mixes of tracks from the albums.

The albums themselves are utterly essential releases for any Metal fan that are both historically important as well as brilliant on their own merit. The style covers ground suited for fans of Classic Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Progressive Metal and of course Power Metal, for which these albums have been incredibly influential. If you are a massive Thrash fan then album one will get your pulse racing and if you are really into Power Metal album two will do it for you even more. Together and separately they are the kind of albums you will always find in Top-100 style lists of best-ever-metal-albums.

The bombastic music is absolutely filled with impressive virtuoso shredding and also melodic guitar solos, as well as sing-along choruses and joyous happy-sounding passages. Each member is incredibly talented and luckily everything gels together perfectly so that the albums come across as even greater than the sum of their parts.

The high-pitched vocalist Michael Kiske was reportedly hired because the band wanted someone who sounded like Rob Halford of Judas Priest and Geoff Tate from Queensr˙che and often gets compared with Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden and Ronnie James Dio, so if you generally enjoy that sort of powerful melodic Traditional Heavy Metal style then these albums will be perfectly suited to your tastes.

Album highlights include the two 13-minute tracks `Helloween' and `Keeper Of The Seven Keys' as well as the catchy `I Want Out' `Dr. Stein' and `Eagle Fly Free.'

Overall, these two albums are incredibly good and if you usually enjoy any of the aforementioned bands or subgenres then they are something that you really ought to check out. If you like Helloween themselves then the albums are absolute must-haves. This collection is a brilliant way of getting both in one go, and the Thrashy B-sides and linear notes are a perfect augmentation to the already-great albums.

Title says it all Helloween at their best and the first album is better than the second melodic speed metal at its finest.Stand out tracks are future world , i,m alive and i want out. The second is only a bit disappointing because part 1 is such a compete album. Saw them open at Donnington in 1988 and they were a excellent live band and i don't think they released anything near this level again though they are still touring. They should have been such a more successful band as the musicianship and drive was there , guess they missed their window.

Hi everyone,

well you all probably have these masterpieces called The Keepers 1&2, both on separated editions, but now thanks to Universal and Sanctuary records they brought them together both editons in one!=)

What you got on this one is and extended interview with Kai and some parts Kiske, during the process of the album back in those times, how they changed the way of music throught Europe, plus very, very nice pictures.About the albums they both have bonus tracks and are remastered, nowdays I still have fun with them;)

In short words as a fan there is no argue to get it, your library collection is going to thank for it, and if you are a beginner and have between 12 and 15 years old, this album is going to definetely going to change your world, I wished back in my times I could have both editions in this especial price!

have a nice day and UP THE PUMPKINS!
