Here is a Jack In The Box, much like any other Jack In The Box, except this box is adorned with fetching Beatrix Potter finery and inside it lies a delightfully faithful soft Peter Rabbit holding a carrot stick. As you turn the crank, it plays an instantly recognisable and note perfect rendition of Pop Goes The Weasel. If you can resist the pedantic temptation to remark that Peter isn't a weasel or that the nursery rhyme gives away the exact moment of the popping out, it's completely awesome.
At the event of the first popping out in the toy store, I witnessed the Christmas shopping duo of mother and gran instantly won over and eager to hand over the cash. Imagine how entertained the young recipient of the gift was!
The most amazingly novel Jack In The Box ever? Maybe not, but it should ensure a lifelong love of Peter Rabbit, and that's gotta count for something.
Easy to wind? Yes.
Easy to put Peter back in? Yes, once you know you have to finish the song for the box to lock.

very cute jack in the box that plays the traditional pop goes the weasel song. i purchased this for my daughters 6 year old birthday. she had been asking for a year for one and i was kind of hoping it would go away from the top of her wish list. alas. anyways it is very well made and the music is infallibly on the beat. it was a bit dented in the metal when it arrived in bubble wrap that was a bit thin and once it is dented you cannot get a dent out, unless you possibly had a strong magnet. not sure about that as i have not yet tried. i kept it because i did not notice dent til i was wrapping it and with 3 kids under 6 i figured it would not be long before they made their own dents in it. all 3 of them enjoy it but i have owned it 2 weeks and as i already assumed it will not entertain for long. would be a better gift for a 1 year old or even younger to maximize the time it gets used as it is not a cheap toy.
