Mini DV cam - useful !
on 14 July 2011
Excellent product, just spend some time getting to know it, use it, play with it.
I've used this as a helmet mounted camera, very good daylight resolution, clear audio.
This unit is much better than the Actioncam Action Video camera (which I've also got),
The Actioncam suffers from motion blur quite badly (at least my one does), however the Mini DV cam is much better, and a LOT smaller !
Make sure you read the instructions first, charge it properly, comes with many attachments and leads.
*** IMPORTANT *** There is also a file you need to upload in order to set the correct time/date.
Specs - Self contained Li-ion battery, mini usb jack for charging/data transfer, 3 buttons, for power, mode, rec/stop.
Comes with silicon sleeve, clip mount, strap mount, desk mount, lanyard, cd-rom, usb mains adapter and usb to mini usb lead. (phew)
** You WILL NEED - A Micro SD card, there is no internal memory on this unit. **
I've now bough a second one, which is exactly the same as my first one.
As for the memory card, I'd strongly suggest getting an 8Gb micro SD card at the same time as ordering, as this will give you the full 2 hours continuous shooting that the battery should give.
Bad points - The spring on the clip broke when I was wearing it, so it dropped on the floor, however, not broken, working perfectly !
Might suggest using the lanyard as a backup strap to avoid loosing it whilst clipped on to clothing !
Overall - Great product, amazing price (around £13), it's small enough to put anywhere, light enough to wear out and about, and cheap enough to use for trekking/biking/climbing so that if you dropped it, you wouldn't worry too much compared to the more expensive ones (by that I mean over £100 !)
