I liked the book, but also the very evocative nice cover.
I have climbed upto 4200 meters, to the Annapurna Basecamp in Nepal, and also experienced high altitude sickness, so I could sympathize wirh the aurhor for being sick.
Daniel Dorr (the author) wrote a vivid and honest account of this climb to the top of the Kikimanjaro. Whether he made it or not, I'm not going to tell, because that would mean spoiling the fun for other readers.
So, all I have to say is, if you are into climbing, buy the book. You won't be sorry (I hope!).
And if you intend to climb it, don't read it. The reading might put you off. Unless you enjoy suffering, because that's what alpinism is all about.
